    1. [BARTLETT-ROOTS-L] Jonathan Bartlett and Lydia Chase
    2. My Bartlett ancestry goes back to Jonathan Bartlett, born about 1714 in Haverhill, MA, and died before Nov. 13, 1794 in Balltown, ME. His parents are unknown and the date and place of his birth are unconfirmed. This illusive man has been very troublesome, and now I am having a hard time confirming who his wife was. I have been told by close cousins also researching their BARTLETT roots that he married Lydia Chase, daughter of Abraham and Ruth (Morse) Chase, about 1742 in Plaistow, New Hampshire. They had ten children, of which Caleb (born May 11, 1755 in Plaistow, NH, married Molly Cooper) is my line. While I have good reason to believe she WAS his wife, I cannot prove it. The book, "Seven Generations of the Descendents of Thomas and Aquila Chase", by John Carroll Chase and George Walter Chamberlain (1928) gives Jonathan as the husband of Lydia. However, a Jonathan Bartlett is also given as the husband of Lydia's sister, Elizabeth (page 52). Is this the same Jonathan? I have also found other people that say that Jonathan Bartlett (with the same birth and death dates, also of unknown parentage) was married to a Hannah Harriman. Does anyone have the answers to the life of this mysterious man? I would love to hear from anyone that shares my line. Names also included are COOPER, SKILLIAN, PLATTS, HALE, HUTCHINSON, HARRIMAN (but not the Hannah mentioned above), JEWETT, and on and on if Lydia Chase was indeed his wife and the mother of Caleb. My Bartletts settled in Bartlett's Mills, New Brunswick, Canada after the Revolutionary War .(Especially like to hear from other New Brunswick Bartletts, surnames:ROGERSON, HAY, LITTLE, NUTTER, LINTON) _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail.
