VA-WVA James MONROE Esquire Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia to all to whom these presents shall Come Greeting, Know Ye, that by virtue of a Land office Treasury Warrant number Seventeen thousand two hundred and thirteen, issued the twenty first of June one thousand seven hundred and eighty three there is Granted by the said Commonwealth unto William BARTLETT a Certain tract and parcel of land containing four hundred acres by survey bearing date the twenty ninth day of October one thousand seven hundred and ninety eight., lying and being in the County of Harrison on the waters of Simpsons Creek and Pleasant Creek and bounded as followeth, to wit, beginning at a sugar tree and a bnd beech on a line of Gabriel WILKINSONs Survey and running thence by said line North fifty seven and a half degrees East thirty one poles to a polar said WILKINSONs corner, thence North seventy seven degrees East one hundred and sixty eight poles to pointers of two white oaks and a hickory on a line of land surveyed for Stephen SHERWOOD thence South twenty four degrees East one hundred and twenty two poles to a black walnut tree South thirty nine degrees West one hundred and twenty four poles to a sugar tree South twenty nine degrees East fifty two poles to an ash South fifty eight degrees East thirty four poles to a white walnut and two elms on a line of line surveyed for Josiah (Isiah) DAVIDSON thence by the same South forty eight degrees West thirty two poles to a sugar tree, thence by another of DAVISONs lines South thirty four degrees East one hundred and thirteen poles to a white oak and sugar tree thence South thirteen degrees West twelve poles crossing Pleasant Creek to a white walnut tree South sixty seven degrees West one hundred and nineteen poles to a white oak and hickory, North sixty two degrees East eighty six poles crossing Pleasant Creek to a poplar, North thirty two degrees East forty two poles to a poplar at 56 deg No 56 poles to a Lynn at 30 1/4 deg W 20 poles to a white walnut N 20 1/2 deg W 102 poles to a hickory North thirty three degrees West thirty eight to two Lynns North.thirteen degrees West one hundred and ten poles to a beech North sixty eight degrees West thirty one poles to a sugar tree South forty five degrees West thirty poles to a black walnut, North forty eight degrees West forty two poles to a sugar tree, North four and 1/2 degrees West twenty two poles to a hickory, North seventy six degrees East thirty poles to a beech and lynn and North sixty six degrees East seventeen poles to the beginning with its appurtenances to have and to hold the said William BARTLETT and his heirs forever, In Witness whereof the said James MONROE Esquire Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia hath hereunto set his hand and caused the lesser seal of the said Commonwealth to be affixed at Richmond on the Eleventh day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and of the Commonwealth the twenty fifth.
