Patrick HENRY Esquire Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, To all to whom these presents shall come, Greeting: Know ye, that by virtue and in Consideration of part of a preemption Treasury Warrant Number Two Thousand two Hundred and Eighty nine and issued the Sixteenth day of October one thousand seven hundred and eighty two there is granted by the said Commonwealth , unto Thomas BARTLETT assignee of John POWERS a certain tract or parcel of land Containing two hundred acres by survey bearing date the twentieth day of June one thousand seven hundred and eighty four lying and being in the County of Monongalia on the East side of the Tygers Valley River about one mile and a half below the mouth of Thompsons run and nearly opposite his other survey of four hundred acres and bounded as followeth, to wit, Beginning at a Poplar on the River and South sixty degrees East sixty poles South two degrees East forty poles South Eighty seven degrees West two hundred and sixty poles to the river and down said river with its meanders four hundred and seventy three poles to the Beginning with its appurtenances, to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with all appurtenances, to the said Thomas BARTLETT and his heirs forever. In witness where of, the said Patrick HENRY esquire Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, hath here unto set his hand and caused the Lesser Seal of the said Commonwealth to be affixed, at Richmond, on the fifth day of July in the year of our Lord, one thousand seven hundred and eighty five and of the Commonwealth the tenth.
