Velda Robertson June 16, 1973 Mabel Katherine (not sure of spelling) Flora's mom was Ruby Wade b. 1886, d. Feb. 26, 1971 I THINK that my great-great-grandfather might be William W. Bartlett b. 1871, d. Oct. 5, 1933. There are other Bartletts that were alive around the same time so I suppose one of them could also be my great-great-grandfather. But this William W. seems more likely because of the consistency of the use of William throughout the family line. I would be most grateful for any information you may be able to provide. Thank you! Hello, I have been trying to find any information on the family of my Great Grand father Hamer (Bartleth) Bartlett he married Susan Springer: October 6th, 1891 in Clermont Co. Ohio. He was born abt. Jul 1859 in Ohio., she February 6 1873, in Pierce Twp. Clermont Co, Ohio they married in Clermont Co. Ohio ( I believe) they had two daughters: Lily May., and Kattie Bartlett, both born I believe in Clermont Co. Ohio. I just came back from one Genealogy Library for a bite of Lunch and I'm on my way to the another and if anyone needs something to be looked up and would like someone to pitch ideas off of, I'm here.. My gg grandmother was Mary Jane Bartlett, born in central Vermont (probably Plainfield or Cabot) in 1836. She married D. Marshall Perkins. Her father was Levi Bartlett, who, according to the LDS FHC database, was born in Hanover, NH, on November 5, 1800, and died in Plainfield, VT in 1881. Her mother was Nancy Batchelder, and they were married in 1831. Their household is listed in Plainfield, VT on the 1850 census, naming Mary Jane and three brothers, Solomon, Joseph & Edward, as well as two more adult women. Family legend says we are descended from the same family (Stephen & Hannah Webster Bartlett, Married in Newbury, Essex, Massachusetts on 18 December, 1712) as Josiah Bartlett, signer of the Declaration of Independence. I guess a lot of family legends say that!!! I have been told that Levi's father's name was Solomon, and that he was Josiah's brother, although 28 years younger than Josiah. Also that Solomon was married three times and served in the Revolution. I wrote to Hanover, NH, and sent $10.00 for a search, but they say they have no record of Levi's birth, and because of his birthdate and not knowing when and to where they may have moved, census records do not seem a good source. And I can't afford to bark up too many wrong trees!! Since I live in North Carolina, it is only rarely that I have the opportunity to search New England records myself. Internet data bases I have been able to access on the net have not so far yeilded anything on Solomon in any information I have discovered on Josiah. I have only been working on genealogy for about six months, so still consider myself a newbie, and would appreciate any information or suggestions on how to proceed that you can share with me. Ruth, Thank you for your response. You certainly are doing a lot of work on the Thompson Twp., Geauga County, Ohio BARTLETTs. It is so wonderful to find someone who knows that these BARTLETTs exist. I do appreciate your efforts in finding my Louissa BARTLETT. Some additional information about her. My Grandmother had her name listed as Laurissa, some census' have her listed as Lorissa, and the marriage information had her listed as Louissa. I found her birthplace listed as MA on the 1850 census of Boone Co., Illinois. After she married Andrew WEBSTER they moved from Geauga Co., Ohio to Boone Co., Illinois. This Andrew WEBSTER has a P for his middle initial. It could be mistaken for an R. I did want to let you know that she died in Boone Co., Illinois, so you don't send your Uncle Don on a wild goose chase. Louissa/Laurissa/Lorissa married Andrew P. WEBSTER on August 07, 1837 in Geauga, Co., Ohio. She would have been approximately 22 years old then. In the information on the 1840 Census of Thompson Twp. Geauga Co., Ohio I figure that Preserved was between 40 and 49 years old, Theodore between 60 and 69 years old, and Joseph between 50 and 59 years old. These were the only BARTLETTs that I could find listed in Thompson Twp., Geauga Co., Ohio. Any of these men could have been her father. Joette, Hi, Got your email.. First off the Stebbins that you found in Ohio are part of the Stebbins family that came with the Bartlett's from Southampton, MASS. Now We have a small problem, that can probably be taken care of as soon as I do some checking on this.. >From the dates, you gave on Louissa, my Louissa was born in Thompson, Ohio.. Not in MASS.. But , I mean BUT Joseph & Lucy Phelps Bartlett had a daughter Emma Louise Bartlett born in Mass about the same time as your Louissa .. Joseph was the first Bartlett who left Southampton, MA for Ohio.. Now from that to this: what I have on a Louissa is that she married a "Philo Ray"and a A. R. Webster.. This information came from a manuscript that Lester Bartlett (2nd cousin 3 times removed, 6th Cousin 4 times removed, and 7 th Cousin 3 times removed) put together and left at the Library of Congress in a Book on Northampton, where my Grandfather Erlin found it while on a summer vacation, working on the family Genealogy.. The following spring my grandfather went back to Washington D.C. and found Lester at the Library of Congress and the two spent the next week working together on the Bartlett Genealogy... Lester mentions a Louissa as a daughter of Theodore Bartlett.. Lester and Grandpa Erlin corresponded for the next couple of months and then nothing... Grandpa Erlin never heard from Lester again.. They were working on Joseph's, Preserved, & Theodore's families and locating the children of those men at this time.. Grandpa Erlin continued on bringing his family line current.. So Lester's information never got finished and that is what I'm doing now.. Proving, & Documenting.. That is where I'm left.. From Lester's and Erlin's work, I have gone back and documented and proven everyone's connection.. In some cases, I have seperated females and males. Because when Lester was collecting informatin on the Bartlett's he sometimes did not check the birth and death dates, or check on location etc.. Now in the Largo city Library is a very large Genealogy section... I spend quite a bit of time there.. There are three books there that I use quite a bit.. Bk # 1 Inscriptions and Intermnets in Geauga County, Ohio through 1989 Locations of Cementaries, residents of the cementaries and any other important information.. Bk# 2 Locations of Bolton County, Connecticut Cementaries and it's residents >From 1600? to 1975.. Locations of Cementaries, residents, maps, picture of unusual head stones etc. Bk# 3 State of New York, County of Yates, & Steuben Cementaries Years of 1705 - 1850 All three books have loads on information in them.. Everytime I use them I always find something new.. I have practially copied all three books I have gone thru what I have copied from Bk# 1 the last time I was there which was Thurs of last week.. I copied the Bartlett's, Pomeroy, Strongs, & Stebbins index.. But I did not branch out and copy or go after the individual females in the Bartlett families.. I will be going back to the Library on Friday.. Plans are for the whole day.. When I do, I will check the book and tell you what I find.. If I should find her, which from what you have and what my grandfather Erlin had I should.. I will give a call to my Uncle Don in Thompson, and ask if he will in his daily outings go to the Cementary and check her stone.. to see what is there.. My Uncle Don loves to go Cementary Hunting.. Hi Ruth, Thanks for your welcome letter. I am very glad to be part of your list. I'm still trying to make a connection to a BARTLETT line. From what I have learned from you so far, I think she is part of the Robert & Ann Warringer of the Lion line. She was born about 1815 in MA. She is part of the BARTLETTs that migrated to Thompson Twp, Geauga County, OH. She arrived there sometime after 1815 and before 1837 when she married Andrew WEBSTER. (This Andrew WEBSTER is from the John WEBSTER and Mary SHATSWELL line. I have extensive information on them.) In the 1840 census of Geauga County, OH I also find that a Joseph, Preserved, and Theodore BARTLETT also live in Thompson Twp., Geauga County, OH. In the 1840 Census it appears that Theodore BARTLETT was between 60 and 70 years old. Ruth, you did already tell me that Theodore was Louissa's father. Is there a list of her siblings, and information on this Theodore that I can acquire? I do have the Microfilm on loan at the LDS FHC of Geauga OH Marriage Records for the years 1806-1920. It doesn't give much information, and some is very hard to read. But, I did notice some STEBBINS surnames. Would these be connected to the STEBBINS in the Robert and ANN of the Lion line?
