Hi! My mother is the genealogist and I'm her online voice. She has been researching our Bartlett line for many years and has hit a brick wall with the Bartlett surname. She has all other lines (maternal) back to the Mayflower and Mary Chilton. She needs birth date, location and parents of STEPHEN BARTLETT. He married MARY KNIGHT in Dec 1807 in Portland, Maine. He had a son, Stephen. She has exhausted her options locally. Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks and keep up the good work, this group is most interesting. I print out information and send it to my Mom. Mike, Where did you pick up this email from?? I could not identify who this was from so I could email her back?? By the way, would you like to host tomorrow night's meeting?? If, So, email me back and let me know.. Then tomorrow night get to Tammy's room about 15 minutes early and between the two of us, we will welcome all who come in to listen.. If you can get at least two short stories together.. That would be great.. Ruth
Hello everyone, It's me.. The quiet one.. This is just a reminder that the 1ST Chat Session of the Bartlett Roots Mailng List will be on two nights, instead of one, 1) Thursday Night 9 PM East Coast time (NY time) that is 8PM Illinois, then 7PM Mountain, and 6 California time.. 2) Friday Night - 9 PM East Coast time (NY time) that is 8PM Illinois, then 7PM Mountain, and 6 California time & we can't forget 2 AM UK TIME for all the UK'ers that have been bugging me to include them The Chat will be held in the Bartlett Chat room which is located on the <A HREF="Http://WWW.Bartlettgenealogy.com/">Bartlett Genealogy Foundation</A> web page.. If you haven't been there to check it out then let's do so before the Chat.. I would like to make sure that everyone can be accomodated with this chat.. If someone is not able to get into the chat room, because of their computer or for what ever reason, let me know.. I'll do what I can to accomodate anyone who is interested.. If you have a favorite story on Richard, let me know as I would love to have you tell it.. My goal for this wonderful and fun group of Cousins, is to see at least one Chat a month, it doesn't have to be on the Bartlett's.. It can be on Genealogy research.. Best tools, where to find certain materials.. etc.. It can be on Bartlett's that served in the Civil War, or the Revolutionary War.. It could be on a Bartlett Reunion you might have had, or like what someone from my line just sent me, they found it in a local library .. A whole folder of stories on the Bartlett's of Ohio including a series of Bartlett reunions where several generations of different Bartlett Cousins of different Bartlett Families all got together and had several reunions from the early 1820 to 1874 .. The stories of what happen, the secretaries and how they felt about the reunions.. etc.. This packet is over 55 pages.. Well I look forward to hearing from everyone on July 16 at 10PM for one hour of fun and Story Telling.. Ruth

My Bartlett connection is very early and just for one/two generations here in the US. Samuel Rider married Sarah Bartlett d/o Richard in 1656, in Plymouth, MA. Also Joseph Sylvester married in 1690, in Plymouth MA Hannah Bartlett d/o Joseph Bartlett, brother of Sarah, above In researching this line I have seen reference to "The Nellie Rider Papers" my source, Fremont Rider, describes 'The Papers' as "A genealogy of the Cape Cod branch of the Rider family from Samuel (1601) to about 1915. By Nellie Rider of Providence, RI. Handwritten manuscript in 3 loose leaf notebooks, deposited in the Library of the New England Historical & Genealogical Society." I have written to NEHGS and they tell me 'The Papers' are not part of their collection. I even wrote a second time after rechecking my information. The answer was still NO. Is anyone else descended thru Sarah and Sam? Has anyone used this collection? Does anyone know where it is? Could those of you in the East put it on your list of things to check next time you are at the libraries in your area? I hope that someone has used this manuscript or can help me locate it, it seem to cover a missing link in my documentation. Thank you, Bonnie Ryder Bliss San Jose, CA
This is my first time to visit the Bartlett-Web. I am a descendant of John Bartlett and Sarah (Sally) Gore, of Franklin County, Kentucky. I believe my files were published on your page by Mr. Norvan Johnson. The only files that belong to Mr. Johnson was the one on the last page, Lemuel and Evaline (Jewell) Bartlett. The rest of the files were mine that I shared with Mr. Johnson. Mr. Johnson published these records without my permission. Mr. Norvan Johnson doesn't have the documentation to back up my files. I have bible records, will, deeds and etc. I will galdly share with anyone that are descendants of this family. I live in the County that the Bartletts resided in. Thank you. Ruth; I subscribe to both lists, because I'm interested in researching the Bartlett line - no more, no less. Both lists, and incidently all of the Bartlett related homepages, have a lot to offer the serious researcher. Subscribing to both lists, I often see the same post to both - we're just trying to communicate and share information. I have a Homepage with all of my ancestors on it, and a special place for some Bartlett information I've personally researched over the past 25 years (I was scrolling microfilm at the National Archives before Roots aired on TV, creating long lines there). I plan to put up pages for my other ancestors, as time permits. All of the information I've collected, including over 10,000 descendants in my database, is free to anyone, no strings... I put links to everyone who is related on my home page and in my material, and I add others who have an interesting stuff to share. I haven't updated my site in a while, but was planning to add the Bartlett Foundation, even tho most of the information pertains to the New England Bartletts. If someone finds my Web page, I want them to get as much out of it as possible. I enjoy your listserve and your web page, Very truely, Jim Bartlett Web Site: http://customers.doubled.com/~bartlett/genealog.htm Descendants of Thomas BARTLETT (c1730-1806) of Fauquier and Harrison Co, VA and 80 other surname ancestors, mostly from Colonial Virginia -----Original Message----- From: TILADY@aol.com <TILADY@aol.com> To: BARTLETT-ROOTS-L@rootsweb.com <BARTLETT-ROOTS-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Monday, July 13, 1998 11:55 PM Subject: [BARTLETT-ROOTS-L] Bartlett Roots Mailing list.. >Tammy, > >Hey there, I have this feeling that we have quite a few individuals that are >on both list.. Once again--WHAT LIST? WHAT OTHER BARTLETT LIST?
I don't understand -- what lists? What other Bartlett list? Are there more than one list? If so, is there a directory of "surnames"? Please let me know.
The way I read it, it sounded as if (don't ask why) we may be unsubscribed--I think it was of bad experience on the "other Bartlett list" for being on other list's--its silly I know. So why don't ya all take a poll to see how many list's people subscribe to out of curiosity.
