Donna and everyone else on list, The list has been very quiet the last week. I am sure all of us right now are glued to our newscasts because of what happened yesterday. I guess we kinda settle in to "no big deal" attitude after the space program has made so many launches and landings. I believe this family needs to pray for the families of the seven people who died yesterday. They all believed in what they were doing and as President Bush said "They may not have made it back to earth, yet we can hope they are all safely home." Well, I wasn't going to say anything for a while but to try to stir up some activity on the list I will share a little bit of this with you. Karen Hett and I have been working with Mr. Bob Jackson. I believe most of you know who he is. He has agreed to put all the old documents on our website from the Dr. Jackson Archives. These include old documents, letters, and research from the 1920s, including the findings of the Researcher he hired in Virginia to try to find out if Reuben Barrett migrated from there. He would like to dispel a lot of the things that have been circulating over the years that are not true. For instance that our family was from Virginia, that Mary Barrett was born in VA, and a few others. We will scan the old documents so that you can see them for yourself. It is taking some time as Mr. Jackson is in Connecticut and is caring for his elder family, and he has to approve everything that Karen puts together before she sends it to me to post on the website. Karen also has some things going on in her life that she has to stop and take care of now and then. But I think it is very exciting that we will finally have access to all these valuable letters that were written by our family in the 1800s. And it is thanks to the wonderful sharing spirit of Mr. Jackson. It is a wonderful thing that he is doing and I would like to thank him very much. (I believe he is on our list.) I will not make a link to the page until we get a few more things on there, but there will be a link from the Mary Barrett Jackson page and also a link from the index page. It is because of people like Mr. Jackson that we know as much as we do about Reuben Barrett and our family. He has carefully protected our heritage as his sister and his grandfather did. I am very excited about this project, but as I said it will take awhile to get set up. I will let everyone know as soon as I get the link up. Several people have sent me new information in the last couple of weeks for the website. Gerry Dickens sent some on the Reuben Barrett, Jr., and Steve Mitchell sent data on the John Napoleon Barrett line (which includes some Watson data). Hallie and Larry Johnson sent many many pictures of Tyger Cemetery in South Carolina. Betty Neimann has sent the court transcripts of Bill Bobo's murder charges and also the prison record of my great great grandfather Steven Barrett. I want to thank everyone for taking the time to share this valuable data with all of us. I believe we have the most valuable and extensive research data on the Reuben Barrett Family and it is all because of you all. I am very proud of all of you and I am proud to be a part of a family who is caring and doesn't give a second thought to sharing or trying to help someone in their quest of genealogy. I would love to hear any comments or suggestions, or just a hello from everyone. Hugs, Janet Barrett Walker
