Gaye, Remember what they said about "For want of a nail a horse was lost!" The same could be said for gravel and the marker. All help is greatly appreciated. I'm sorry you won't be able to make the reunion, you'll be missed. I couldn't find my copy of Reuben's civil war record, but I have copies of two applications. Under service both: Capacity; private - horseman Service; 46 days of duty as horseman from 1st August to 15 Sept 1780, both days inclusive under Capt. Chas Holloway of 20/ to 150 days of duty as a horseman from 16 Sept 1780 to 12 Feb 1781 both days included under Capt. Dennis Trammel of 20/ to 44 days of duty as a horseman from 15 day of Feb to 28 day of March 1781 both days included under Capt. Jon Lawson of 20/ 240 days total He had two horses killed under him in battle. Apparently, he was in the Spartan Regiment. AA. 301: Z89 Regiment commanded by Col. Roebuck. He was honorably discharged about the year 1781. The reference given is; National Archives, Record Group No 15 - W. 2583-7 pages in all, not numbered South Carolina Archives Department, Columbia, SC AA321 Acct #89-Z-2 pages. Jim, Please send address of where to send a small contribution. I can't afford much but maybe a couple of gravel for the cement. What style of monument was finally decided upon?? I wish it were possible to attend the reunion but limited funds make that impossible. Please keep in touch.
