How many of you who are interested in archeology have visited the Passport in Time web site. Many archeology projects you can take part in. All it cost is your personal expenses. For those who like to camp, free camp sites are available. During the spring of 2002 I took part in a project that involved recovering a cemetery from the East Texas Piney Woods. Among other things we used ground penetrating radar to try to locate unmarked graves. That was the fun part. Using axes, holes and post hole diggers seemed more like work. Visit their site at http://www.passportintime.com/ , pick a project and sign up. This year I'll be part of a project for the excavation and stabilization of a Shawnee town. There is still room for others! All work is done under the direction of the U. S. Forest Service and on land under their control. NA graves, if found, will be reported, but not disturbed. The work at several sites has been limited for just this reason. Jim Barrett Bedford, TX parino@flash.net Barrett Surname DNA Project Powell Surname DNA Project
