Is this Arthur Barrett the son of Reuben? Does anyone have any information on this person? Hugs, Janet Subj: arthur barrett Date: 5/1/04 3:07:41 PM Pacific Daylight Time From: hpspivey@nlamerica.com To: CHenry8604@aol.com Sent from the Internet (Details) Janet, I am the ggd of Green Young and Leanna Barrett Young who lived in Cleburne, Johnson County, Texas. Both are buried in the Cleburne Cemetery. When I have researched the children of Arthur Barrett, I have found Leanna listed as Laurissa. Unless her name was Laurissa Leanna or Leanna Laurissa, I don't know how the name came to be listed that way. I have searched for the marriage record of Green and Leanna but have not had any luck. Green Young's parents, Wiley and Julia Crane Young lived in Clarke Co., MS. I don't know how Green Young and Leanna Barrett met. Green Young served in the same company in the Civil War as did the Barrett brothers. I would be interested in learning of any information you might have on Leanna's line. Mary Jane & Janet, How wonderful to hear about Green and Leanna Barrett Young. I never knew where they went after they left Neshoba County. Many years ago a lady transcribed Leanna's name as Laurissa from census records and sent it to LDS in Salt Lake City, so it got worldwide circulation. Green and Leanna must have married before 1877 when marriage records for Neshoba County are now available. Courthouse fire got those earlier ones. Green and Leanna are mentioned together in Good Hope Baptist Church records so I assumed they got married in Neshoba County. As for how the couple met, Green is a brother of Harriet Young who married William Grant Barrett, son of Arthur (b 1798). He spent some time in Neshoba County and was on a deed with Arthur Barrett once. Wiley Young and family had moved up to Newton County by 1850. Green's brother Lewis Young was with him in Company A, 33rd MS Infantry Regiment where William Grant and Arthur served. I am the great-granddaughter of William G. and Harriet Young Barrett. Their youngest daughter Ritha Ann (1876-1960) was my grandmother. She married William Robert Tingle of Neshoba County, MS, in 1895. Do you know whether Green and Leanna went to Cleburne with relatives, or perhaps joined someone already in Texas? Leanna's brother, Benjamin Bird Barrett went to TX after the Civil War and is buried in Montague County at Old Spanish Fort Cemetery near the Red River. He first was in Milam and McLennan Counties, TX. I'm glad that at long last someone has confirmed that Leanna's name is not Laurissa. The above is from memory. I need to look at their records again, but I did not have anything on them after they left Neshoba County. Ann Lila Mesa, AZ CHenry8604@aol.com wrote: Is this Arthur Barrett the son of Reuben?
