    1. [Barrett-Reuben-SC] E mail addy
    2. Debbie & Parker
    3. Hi family, I wanted to let y'all know that I rarely check my hotmail account that is linked to the ancestry account, I have been having to go through the junk box to recover mail because the spam catcher is putting it there. My personal addy is ewebiggs.deb@verizon.net. Of course you can still use my D_EBIGGS@msn.com but I only left that in tack for my messenger and other. I went through this account toady and made a family folder so I will not loose any more mail. I just wanted to let you know this because I apparently have missed a couple e mails from family and I was kinda lost when I was asked why haven't you replied to me. Have a great day Love Deb --------------------------------------------------------------------------

    3. Janet, I am sorry I haven't responded to the request of names of members of DAR. using Reuben Barrett. I entered DAR under Reuben. For those of you interested, the official website is www.DAR.org On this site you can find how to apply for membership. Also, they have a patriot look-up service (free of charge). You can find a list of all the chapters in each state. Hallie Johnson I would like to have a list of all the Barrett family who are members of DAR, I think it will be helpful when others ask for information on joining DAR using Reuben Barrett. Hugs, Janet

    2. Mary and Pat, Thank you so much for your offers for help. If you can type up updates then I can add the html to them and upload them into the directory. I have several in my computer that need to be added now. HTML is really very simple once you get the hang of it. It is just a matter of knowing which symbol means what. For example <p> means a paragraph so that would go between each paragraph <small>means you want the type smaller <big> means you want it bigger..of course there is alot more to it that this but it is the bases of html. I will get back with the two of you and let you know when I am ready..thanks again, Hugs, Janet

    2. Hello All, My computer has been down, something with my AOL and having Windows 98. I was going to delete it today and reinstall and it just happened to come online today. I had almost 500 e-mails!!! First of all to catch everyone up, we are all fine. I have a friend here visiting from Australia for the next 3 months who has never been to Texas..we are having a blast with the language differences. They speak English but they use different words for different meanings there. As far as helping on the website..I did suggest last year I think that one person from each line help me to add information to the website..which would consist of typing the information out (and adding the HTML if you know HTML) and I would upload it to the site. I have spent hours upon hours on the website on one wrong move in the directory could wipe out the whole 350 some odd pages and I am not ready to take that chance. However some help would be appriciated as far as typing up the pages and updates and then I can upload them into the website. Karen has access to the directory but she has her own section and does not do anything with the main body of the directory. Now that I have some help with the kids here for a bit I can probably find some extra time to start working on the site a little. As far as if anyone wants to start their own sites, that's up to them. Barrett Branches is a copyrighted website, but I think Karen has explained that and she has explained how I feel about it. I will try to make some changes on the website as soon as possible. I hope all is well with everyone and I miss everyone.

    3. Good Morning Family, Thanks ,,,Karen for pointing out how much work and responsibility it is ,so someone doesn't try and jump in it thinking it is a piece of cake. I didn't realize how time consuming it is. I too agree if Janet figured out how to let someone help with their direct lines it would have to be someone who knows how to do all that stuff. I know I do not want the responsibility of knowing that I messed something up on her web site.. I don't have a clue what a html is so I will have to revoke my saying I would help if she needs it.. Shoot I didn't even know who to copy and paste until Janet told me how to do it. I have come along way since with the help from many on the list, learning how to do many things and it has been very much appreciated. I know several of my other lines went to AR at one time or another. The names you mentioned don't ring any bells, either. I'll keep an eye out though. 3. Karen has a good point--maybe it would be a good idea for the ones who DO KNOW how to write html and/or other qualifications to identify themselves to Janet and Karen, and they could then decide how to assign tasks in a way that would be helpful to Janet without compromising the quality of her website. 1. [Barrett-Reuben-SC] DAR Marker for Reuben's grave.
    2. Jim Barrett
    3. Tomorrow I plan to order the DAR marker for Reuben's grave. Below are some comments from Marilyn about the approval process and the dedication ceremony. It will take about six to eight weeks to get the marker to the monument company near Greenville. Hopefully it won't take them long to mount the DAR marker on the stone. I believe it should be ready by May 1. It has to be dedicated by Dec. 10, 2004. As she says, we need to suggest a few dates when someone from our group can be there. Hopefully some from the family will be willing to make a brief speech. PLEASE, suggest dates. If you can go and would be willing to make a brief speech please let us know. We want to arrange a date when someone from the family can be there. Rosemary Hayes / Ann Cummings are you out there?? Anyone else within a 100 or 200 miles? Again, we can not thank Marilyn enough for her efforts in making this possible. FYI - we had 37 families make donations for the stone marker and the DAR marker. Donations came from AZ, CA, FL, GA, ID, IL, LA, MS, NC, SC, TX, UT, & VA. I may have received donations at the reunion that I don't have a record of the location of the donor. We were commended by the chapter as well, for the important work and "speedy" results. Apparently we received our approval in record time! The chapter regent did suggest that we contact the Greenville State Regent and request that they organize and preside over the dedication ceremony. Apparently, if it's done at the state level, the event gets more state-wide participation, and each participating chapter is recognized for it. Anyway, to put it bluntly, it looks good for DAR for more chapters to be involved. I will try to find the emails I received in reply last year when I wrote them. What I suggest we do is select a date or range of dates; then I will write to the SC Regent with whom I corresponded previously and request their assistance for the ceremony on that date; also inform them that a member of BARRETT descendants would like to speak as well. Then we can ask for a volunteer to represent the BARRETT family and speak a few words in memorium. If no other BARRETT descendant can attend I will be willing to represent the descendants as well. I'd like to get a survey of statistics, such as the number of known Barrett descendants who participated in this project, number of states in residence, etc. Marilyn

    3. TIME OUT!!! Jim Barrett does not know HTML! He is a lazy, novice, user of Microsoft FrontPage, which he doesn't thing much of. Jim Barrett (John) might be a good place to start, since he already knows something about writing html.
