How many of you who are interested in archeology have visited the Passport in Time web site. Many archeology projects you can take part in. All it cost is your personal expenses. For those who like to camp, free camp sites are available. During the spring of 2002 I took part in a project that involved recovering a cemetery from the East Texas Piney Woods. Among other things we used ground penetrating radar to try to locate unmarked graves. That was the fun part. Using axes, holes and post hole diggers seemed more like work. Visit their site at http://www.passportintime.com/ , pick a project and sign up. This year I'll be part of a project for the excavation and stabilization of a Shawnee town. There is still room for others! All work is done under the direction of the U. S. Forest Service and on land under their control. NA graves, if found, will be reported, but not disturbed. The work at several sites has been limited for just this reason. Jim Barrett Bedford, TX parino@flash.net Barrett Surname DNA Project Powell Surname DNA Project

Sorry, I have been working on the website all day and trying to keep track of the baby too. Sorry if I skipped a generation. Hugs, Janet
Hello everyone, I recently heard from Rachelle and well as you can read she is looking forward to meeting her new family members. She also included some information that a person helping her from Attala County sent her. She thought most people would already have it but there may be something there you don't have. Have a good one, Deb email from Rachelle: Hey, I just wanted to update you. I believe I told you I had been chatting w/ Grover Cleveland Barrett's Granddaughter. Well, they are as excited as I am and plan on coming to Mississippi for a visit to meet as much of the family as they can. Karen and Janet, You both were right. I wanted Albert Gallitan's ancestry to Reuben Barrett. I phrased my question incorrectly. But thanks to you both, I now have the information I requested. As someone else has already pointed out, this isn't something new to Google. They have been doing it for some time. Yes, you can remove your number today, but when they buy a new listing tomorrow it will be added back. Did you know that several of the companies that have telephone directories on line provide the same service, under the name of reverse look up? I'll bet more people know your name and the town where you live than know your phone number. They can use any of the online directory services to get the same information. It is very had to do much genealogy on line if you spend all of your time trying to hide. How do you expect others to find you so they can share information with you? If you want to protect your self never give out your name, address, phone number, driver's license number, bank account number, or social security. Of course this means you can not use any public utilities, have a checking account, work for anyone other than yourself, and you can not have anything delivered to you home. Sorry, I forgot, you can't own a house or a car because these require you to have titles which contain all kinds of private information. Please, I don't mean to offend anyone, but you can spend all of your time hiding or you can enjoy life. We take chances every day, if we do anything other than stay at home, and even that can be dangerous. Sorry, Janet-- I thought she said Albert Gallatin. Guess I should learn to read. John Whitten Barrett and Albert Gallatin were the only sons of David Barrett, son of Reuben. And as Janet said, David Albert Barrett was son of John Whitten Barrett. He was the twin brother of my great-grandmother, Amanda Barrett McCan. David Albert Barrett is buried two rows behind James M. McCan in the Barrett/Borroughs Cemetery in Madison County. But the two sons that Alta is talking about are the sons of Albert Gallatin, right? The ones who fought in the Civil War and married the Hill girls. They were first cousin to David Albert and Amanda. Only three of A. G.'s sons lived to adulthood; after Albert Gallatin and Sarah D. Seaton Barrett died, their guardian was A. D. Kennard in Grimes County. Why, I don't know, as I've never been able to find a relationship. Later, they became wards of John Whitten Barrett and were living with him at the time of the 1855 school census of Madison. OK, Did you skip Albert Gallatin? I went to the website. I found Reuben, & David, then Albert Gallitan and John Whitten as brothers. David Albert son of John Whitten; David WIlliam and John George sons of Albert Gallatin. Is this correct? ----- Original Message ----- From: <CHenry8604@aol.com> To: <BARRETT-REUBEN-SC-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, February 23, 2004 11:14 AM Subject: Re: [Barrett-Reuben-SC] Descendant line > Karen, > I think Marilyn wanted to know where David Albert fits in the family..??? > Reuben Barrett, David Barrett, John Whitten Barrett, David Albert Barrett > then the two sons that Alta mentiones in her e-mails. > > My brother just reformatted my pc and I don't have my FTM re-downloaded yet > but the lines are on the website. Karen, I think Marilyn wanted to know where David Albert fits in the family..??? Reuben Barrett, David Barrett, John Whitten Barrett, David Albert Barrett then the two sons that Alta mentiones in her e-mails. My brother just reformatted my pc and I don't have my FTM re-downloaded yet but the lines are on the website. Sorry I can't send it to you right now. Also, I believe Alta mentioned that one of the Hill sisters remarried to a Humphries, and one of the grandsons is listed on a census maybe we can find more on him. I will try to see what I can find and add it to the website. Hugs, JAnet
