    1. Barrett DNA Project
    2. Jim Barrett
    3. I know that some of you wanted to help with the DNA project but couldn't, because you didn't have a male Barrett in your line who could provide the sample or because I told you that we had enough samples from Reuben's line and didn't need any more. What we do need is more samples from the Arthur Barrett line (husband of Nancy Barton). Family Tree DNA, the company that does the DNA testing has made it easy for you to help. They have set up a donation web page where you can make contributions. Please see http://www.familytreedna.com/contribution.html . They have also set up a matching fund program. Here are the rules: -- Matching Gift from Family Tree DNA: in conjunction with the launch of the General Fund, Family Tree DNA will match dollar per dollar the contributions to Surname Projects during the month of November, up to a total of $200. There are 3 conditions for the use of FTDNA's matching dollars: a) no more than $25 that has come from FTDNA can be used per test, b) FTDNA matching gift can be used only for new kits, c) FTDNA contributions from the matching gift need to be used before the end of this year, as they will expire on 12/31/04, whether used or not. Currently I have one person I'd like to be able to help. He descends from Arthur's son William, who is shown in Forsyth Co., GA as blind. I would also be very interested in find a descendant of Reuben and Hannah who descends from one of their daughters. This can be a male or female, but they must have a direct maternal line connection to Hannah. That is their mother must be a daughter of a daughter . of a daughter of Hannah. This person can provide DNA information on Hannah, just as the male Barretts have provided DNA information on Reuben. Thanks for any information or support you can provide. Jim Barrett Bedford, TX

    1. MS Reunion 2005
    2. Jim Barrett
    3. I am very please to announce that Marilyn Dowdy has agreed to head up our efforts to have a reunion in Mississippi. Marilyn was very instrumental in helping us acquire the DAR marker for Reuben and Hannah's stone marker. Marilyn is going to need help from many of us. Several of you have already sent me offers to help and I have sent those on to her. I would like for you to send me, parino@flash.net , an e-mail containing names and addresses or e-mail addresses of those you think would be interested in the reunion. Please don't include yours as this list will be to place for you to receive your information. I don't want to spend money sending you a notice about the reunion when you can read it right here. Also, please don't send the information to the list. List messages are archived and ANYONE can find them. I don't know about you, but I'm looking forward to see old friends and meeting new relatives. See you in Mississippi. We'll let you know when and where as soon as we know. Thanks again Marilyn!!! Jim Barrett Bedford, TX
