Karen, Marilyn, I also had some documents on Don Carlos Barrett a few years ago and sent them on to a descendant, however I doubt if I still have the address for the guy. I could not find any connection to our Texas Barrett's either. Janet

This is another response to the article. I don't recognize these names. If anyone does, please contact him. --Marilyn ----- Original Message ----- From: Pat M. I saw the story in the Feb. 28 Clarion about the Barrett family reunion and wanted to contact you. From the names in the paper, I do not believe my subfamily is connected but I am not sure. My grandfather was William Oliver Barrett of Lexington, whose father was T.H.W. Barrett of Edwards, whose father was Oliver Barrett of Jackson, interred in Greenwood Cemetary on North West Street in Jackson, whose father was Don Carlos Barrett, a member of the Texas legislature buried in Brazoria, Texas and a one-time friend of Sam Houston. Do any of those names sound familiar? Regardless, I hope your reunion is a success. Pat Barrett, Jr. Pat M. Barrett, Jr. BARRETT LAW OFFICE, P. A. P. O. Kathy, It is possible that I will need your help. Based on your reply below, you must not be too far from the Tyger Baptist Church. I need someone to meet with the company making the marker to show them where to place the marker. I also need someone to check the marker after it has been placed in the cemetery to be sure it is correct and give the company the final check which I'll provide. I can provide all of the copy for the marker so it should be easy to check it. If you can help I would greatly appreciate it. If I can't find a family member I'll ask someone at the church. From the message below I also see that you descend from Arthur. As I sure you know I working on a Barrett DNA project and I need a male Barrett from his line to join our project. So far I have only found one descendant through his son David Barton Barrett and his DNA did not match that of three of us who descend from Reuben. The only way to resolve this is through additional test from Arthur's line. If you know anyone I would like to know how to contact them. Another question about the reunion. Do you know if there is an announcement at the Greenville library? Does the local paper announce reunions? Thanks for any help you can provide. Marilyn, Sorry it was the same lady who called you that e-mailed me. But that's ok we are still making progress!! janet
marilyn, I have also gotten an e-mail from a Reuben Descendant in Mississippi who said her and her sister and families will be attending. I also got an e-mail from Troy Splawn who said his parents are taking his grandmother who is in her 80's or 90's!! Said she is sharp as a tack too so we will get to hear some great stories in my David line. She is the great-granddaughter of Stephen Reding Barrett. (Stephen Reding, John Daniel, Mattie (who rode in a showbox when she was born because her mother died and her father took her to Madison County) and her. Don't quote me on the generations but I think thats how it goes. (So I may be wrong.) I think the article was a fantastic idea and it seems to be reaching alot of people already. Great Job Marilyn!!!! Janet

Dear Barrett cousins, I have just had my second phone call and I've had 1 email about the Barrett Reunion. The people I've spoken to said the Reunion "write-up" appeared in the Jackson, MS daily newspaper, The Clarion Ledger today. With this response, I hope the number attending the reunion rises rapidly; and the donation purse expands greatly. The first phone call was Joan Barrett Blanks, desc. of Dallas Clement, Reuben G., Joseph, Reuben. The second phone call was Travis Fulton, who is a desc. (I've forgotton how) of Sallie E. Barrett and Violet/Viola J. Barrett, daughters of David Hamilton Barrett. I think one is his ggrandmother and the other a great-aunt. I will forward the emails to the list. Marilyn
Hello, Does anyone have a copy of this document? The marriage of John Napolean Barrett and Elizabeth Watson married abt 1855 in Neshoba County, MS. Gaye Hall is trying to get her papers together for DAR and if anyone can help her it would be appriciated. I would also like a copy to put on the website. I have several original copies from the Joseph line that I am scanning and putting on the website. Thanks, Janet
