Gaye, I have found, it appears, the final resting place of Miles & Lula Irby Barrett, as well as Cora B. Barrett. At http://www.usgw.org/ms/bolivar/poplargrovecemetery.htm there is a listing of interments for the Poplar Grove Cemetery, Linn Road, Bolivar Co., MS. It lists as follows: BARRETT, MILES & LULA, no dates CORA B. BARRETT 6/25/1886 - 8/21/1908 I'll go by there on my trip thru MS in May and take pictures. Maybe there is a superintendent that we can contact to get the interment records? :o) R/Steven ........................................... S T E V E N M I T C H E L L
Susan,My grandfather, Miles Barrett, was a bropther to Richard. Miles' daughter,Olly (Ollie) was my grasndmother. She married John Huygh Mayes,Sr. Their son, Jihn,Jr. was my father and I am an only child. My mother & father divorced when I was about 5 0r 6 years old. My dad cut off all communication with my mojm or me. Why??? I'll never know, I was just an innocent by-stander. I did my best to get my dad ,even after I married and had chilkdren,to let us come for a visit but to no avail. His second wife forbid him to have anything to do with me.It has really been a heartache to bear. I wanted for him to get to know his grandchildren and me just a little better. He raised six children of his second wife, none were his.He died Aug.24,1998 and my mom, Maxine Louise Vernon died May 13,1999. So, I never had a family so to speak.Grandmother & grandada were the only good memories I have. So, that's my life in a nutshell. Glad to meet a New Cousin. As ever, Gaye
WE NEED HELP - AGAIN!!!!! The company I have ordered the marker from want someone to meet them at the cemetery to show the where to place the marker. I can provide a picture and additional information. You should be able to arrange a time that is convenient to you. I would prefer to use someone from our group. If no one is will to take this on I'll contact the church. We also need someone to check the stone to be sure that names and dates are correct and then deliver the final payment. I'll provide the check. I don't want to ask the church to do this. The last choice is to wait until I get to Greenville, hope that it isn't raining and that they can get the marker set in time. I have two connections to the Wadsworths in Leake and Neshoba, in addition to the Barrett connection. Leah Ernest was the sister of my 3rd great-grandfather, George Ernest. Leah married John Woods Hamil; they were ancestors of James Woods Hamil who married Levicy Ann Wadsworth in Leake Co., Ms. Also, Olie Wadsworth married William Clark. He is a descendant of Isham Ernest and Elizabeth Steen. Isham was a nephew of my George Ernest. Confused yet? Welcome to the extended Barrett family! Karen Hett

Hello, I thought I would pass this on in case anyone can help Vivian. Hugs, Janet Subj: Barrett Reunion Date: 3/23/03 7:51:48 AM Central Standard Time From: [email protected] (Vivian Newkirk) To: [email protected] I just found the info about the reunion. I have lived in New York state until Nov 1, so the envelope was placed in a box to bring home. I will be unable to attend for only one reason. I run an upscale store for our son in Barryville, NY. We open on Memorial Day, meaning 3 wks in May we are readying the store to open. I've tried to figure out how I could make the reunion at least for one day May 24, but that weekend is a crucial one. Is there any way you can send me directions to where the Barretts lived plus any other info so that when we leave here May 1, we can drive through Greenville and see the areas? I have the map showing location of Tyger Baptist Church. Anything else I'll miss? If you need any info from me, please let me know. I've found another Ward living in Jackson, MS area and I'll let him know about this reunion. He's been far more involved than I and says that he's found a Ward history more authentic than what I had. I'll pass along to him your address. Also he's found third generation Barretts buried in Neshoba Co, MS. I hope the reunion is a rousing success. Jim, Just a thought. Back when my spouse and daughter played softball I booked numerous hotel reservations. I would go ahead and book how ever many rooms it took to get the discounted price being it be 10 ,12 or 15 rooms. We always had twenty four hours to let extra rooms go but they always gave us the discounted price. I don't know if this would go for this particular facility but you may might want to ask them. Take care God bless our families and extra prayer to those who are so far from home. As of today there is only two months before we start checking in to the motel! If you haven't reserved your room(s) now is the time to do it. The last count I had from them we only had 12 rooms reserved. I have been told directly or indirectly of two additional rooms. I'll contact the motel again April 1 for another count. If we are going to get the meeting room at no additional charge we must have 15 rooms reserved by April 20. We need the meeting room. When you reserve a room please be sure they understand that you are part of the Barrett Reunion. Our marker fund is still short. We still owe $800 on the marker and I am estimating that the emblem will cost about $110. Our current fund is $214 short of that amount. Tammy, Your welcome. If you have anything you would like to see on the webpage of Reuben Jr. Just let me know and I will be happy to add it. I don't have much on his page, so i am sure anything would help out other descendants. janet
Janet, Thank you for the transcription and images. This is my husbands direct line and we are very happy to have this. Tammy
Hello all, I have added a transcription of Reuben Barrett Jr's will along with the scanned images of the will to the website. You will find them on his webpage. I have added a correction to the Elisha Barrett webpage. Thank you Gerry Dickens for donating the above. I have added some pictures to John Whitten Barrett's Webpage of three of their children. I would eventually like to add a picture of each of their children in their appropriate boxes on that Webpage. If you have a picture of any of John W. Barrett and Hulda Reding Barrett's children I would really appreciate a copy for the website. Thank you to Pat Crawford and Karen Hett for the pictures of David, Amanda and Sarah. I have done some corrections on Mattie Barrett Bobo's webpage. I have added some pictures of the Manning family on Sarah Alice Barrett Manning webpage. Thank you Pat Crawford. I have added some pictures to David Albert Barrett Webpage. Thank you Deb Biggs. I still have some more files and pictures that have been sent in to add. I will keep everyone updated on the additions. If those of you that have sent me files want to write to me and remind me please feel free to do so, I can use all the strings tied around my fingers that I can get. Thanks to everyone for being patient with me in getting your information on the site. Hugs, Janet
Hello all, I managed to get several of the books done, put in envelopes and addressed and ready to mail....to Hallie Johnson, Gaye Hall, Deborah Biggs, Steven Mitchell, Janice Huston, Jim Barrett, Karen Hett, and Ann Lila. Did I miss anyone else who already requested a book? I will be printing out 10 more tomarrow. Hugs, Janet
Janet, So VERY thankful to God for the GOOD NEWS !!! As I said., with ALL of our family's prayers, love and The whole of humanity who Believe There is a GOD who will work things out for the Besr,PRAISE HIM !!!!! Love you MUCH,Gaye
Hi Janet, That is great news. For the past few months too many of my friends and relatives have had to deal with cancer. It is good to hear that you will be back working on the family tree with the worry of this largely behind you. God Bless You, Jim Alexander
Hello All, First of all, I would like to thank everyone for thier kind words, thoughts, cards and lettters. I just don't know if I could have gotten through the last two weeks without knowing all of my family was praying for me. As I said before I am a big believer in the power of prayer and once again it has proven my faith right. All the tests that have come back so far ..the biopsy, mammogram and sonograms have all come back negative!!! The tumor is still there and they may go ahead and take it out. I still haven't gotten the colan cancer test done yet, that is on April 4th. But with the way all these tests turned out when they thought they had found so much, I have faith that all will be fine there also. They found a few problems but nothing that can't be fixed or that will cause long term problems. Again, I send my love to all of you and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Hugs, Janet

Linda Evans, I would be interested in any ancestral information that your sister-in-law may have on Elizabeth Grant, w/o Arthur Barrett. I'm seeing postings on the internet where Elizabeth's father was William Grant, s/o John Grant. Is there any other ancestral Grant info available? With respect to Keturah Barrett, any ancestral info there? R/ ...........................................
