Got it. dina
Jim, Great job!!! It is wonderful the way everyone has come thru on everything we have planned. Wow!! 20 people, we are going to have a great turnout. I am just about to burst with enthusiasm. I want to mention to everyone we still need someone to meet the Marker people at the cemetery. It has not been scheduled so if we can find someone in Greenville to do it, they can schedule a time that is convenient for them. Jim will send you the check to give to them..so all it will take is just an hour or two out of your day to make sure the writing is OK on the headstone and make sure they put it in the right place. It doesn't have to be the week of the reunion, it can be done at your convience....we can contact the church and ask someone from there to take care of it but Jim would rather one of us do it, so we don't have to bother them. If someone who lives in Greenville or near Greenville can do this for all of us it would be so appreciated. Please contact either me or Jim as soon as possible so we will know if we need to make other arrangements and Jim will have time to get the check in the mail. Thanks so much and hugs to all, Janet
Jim, There will always be good news. Thanks for your attention to this detail and the fund-raising for the marker. --Marilyn Dowdy ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jim Barrett" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, March 31, 2003 4:52 PM Subject: [Barrett-Reuben-SC] Motel Update - If you have made motel reservations for the reunion this is MUST READ > Motel Reservations - Barrett Reunion > >> Jim Barrett > Bedford, TX > [email protected] > Barrett Surname DNA Project > http://www.flash.net/~parino/barrett-family-dna-project.htm > Barrett Family Reunion - Greenville, SC > http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~barrettbranches/reunion2003.html > Powell Surname DNA Project > > > > ==== BARRETT-REUBEN-SC Mailing List ==== > Barrett Surname DNA Project > http://www.flash.net/~parino/barrett-family-dna-project.htm > > ============================== > To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: > http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237 >
Motel Reservations - Barrett Reunion I checked with the motel this morning. As of this morning we had 20 rooms reserved. The original arrangements were 15 rooms with continental breakfast for $59; 20 rooms without continental breakfast for $50. When I mentioned that this morning I was told the reserved rooms would be re-priced at $50 per night and the continental breakfast would be included. Please be warned: I have run out of subjects to post good news about.. We have the marker paid for and we have met the higher room requirement. Thanks to all!!! Janet, You better believe it!!! Even a few tears but so very thankful for our family of wonderful people who try to help one another. Not enough can be said in praise. Thanks EACH and EVERYONE!!!! Lots osf Love, Gaye
Hello All, I wanted to let everyone know that I will be posting the updates from now on to each "sibling" page for that section. If you haven't visited your ancestors page in the last week or so...I have added a marquee to each page where the updates will go. That way it is easier for me to remember if I post it as soon as I do it since I usually add several things at a time. I have done alot of work on the website lately and several more pages have gotten "face lifts". Elizabeth Wilson Barrett, Hannah Barrett Toles, William Robert Barrett, and Margaret Prince, I will be doing Nancy Barrett Sellers and Prudence Barrett Ward next. Vivian Vawn sent me some wonderful family pictures for the Prudence page of Kinch and her family that I will be adding soon. I am trying to do research on the lines we don't have much data on, and have been making great progress. But it is time consuming for just one person. I know everyones time is valuable but I would really love for everyone to consider picking someone on the website and finding a research partner and maybe one or two days a week doing research on the computer together to furthur our website for others. I would be glad to do research with anyone who wants to do it. I got so many letters from people when the newspaper article came out about the website, it made me very proud of the website and very proud of all you researchers who have helped me so much with it. We have almost nothing at all on Nancy Barrett Sellers family and Margaret Barrrett Prince nor do we have any descendants on them. We have only children data on Reuben Barrett Jr and William Robert Barrett and several other of the sibling pages. If any of you have any ideas or suggestions for the website please let me know. I could really use help from someone who knows how to write basic HTML. It is very easy as I write all my own HTML on all the pages for the website, I don't use a page builder, it is just when there are so many pages it gets time consuming. I will let you all get back to what you were doing. Everyone remember to hug someone they love today! Hugs to all, Janet

This is fantastic. I know you have made Gaye very happy. She has asked me over and over if I came across the graves and has posted on the list several times abut them. And I know it really means alot to her to know where her great grandparents are. Thank you so much for taking the time to find it and for offering to go to the cemetery for her in MS when you go....These are the times I love this list..hehehe..I just wish I coulda seen your face Gaye when you read Stevens post! Congrats!!!! Hugs to all, Janet
Steven, How in the world can I ever thank you. You don't realize how much it means to me I never got to see or know my great grandparents. If anyone knows any stories or interesting items about them, please share. I would like to know what they were like- congenial, outspoken or meek and mild, good habitts and bad. I know that's asking a lot but to never know the heritage you come from,it is a deep yearning to know nore.Let me know if you find any items at the library, data, etc, and the cost of pictures (Film and developing) so I can re-umburse you.You will have my everlasting thanks, As evert,Gaye

It lists as follows: BARRETT, MILES & LULA, no dates CORA B. BARRETT 6/25/1886 - 8/21/1908 I'll go by there on my trip thru MS in May and take pictures. Hi everyone, As Janet said we have had been great fun working together. When Janet and I started communicating back and forth on net messenger it made it simpler. With her knowledge on the family , her creativity and my sixth sense we were able to piece together some things that had gone unnoticed in our files. It seems no matter who I start researching I would always find a" Parker" and I get distracted looking back over my Parker files. I think there is a lot to be said about staying focused with one family and seeing it through til there is no one else to add, then go to another. You will really enjoy having a messenger buddy to share things with. I know this web site has been a very fortunate place for me. I have met knew family members and family means everything to me. I also received photos of my g grandparents that I would not have had if not for barrettbranches web site. Attempt #2! Yes, it is true. I received a VERY GENEROUS donation today and it put us over the top. We have enough to pay off the marker, to pay what I expect the DAR emblem to cost us if we get it approved and maybe enough to pay to have the holes drilled in the marker if we have to have that done after the marker is placed in the cemetery. We have received donations from 23 family groups. Every donation helped. THANKS to everyone of you for your support.
