Hello All, I wanted to write a note and ask everyone to welcome my Aunt Syble Barrett to the list. She is the first one of my direct family line to join in the list and I am so excited! She is from Trinity, Texas, and loves genealogy too. When I started doing all this I wanted my family to be excited about it, but Aunt Syble was really the only one who showed any interest and she helped me alot when I wrote the Reuben book, on my line. So welcome to our list Aunt Syble and I love you! hugs, Janet

In a message dated 4/6/03 9:26:32 AM, [email protected] writes: << Palestine>> Janet--Palestine, Tx? And he didn't say who his grandfather was? If he's from David and he knows his grandfather, I probably have him.
Hello Everyone, Well, I am excited..I got a letter from my nephew in Kuwait and just wanted to share it with my family. It is nice to know he is safe although they are not allowed to say too much.. Thank goodness he is still in the desert and not among all the heavy fighting. He is in Intellegence. He sounds pretty depressed to me. He is only 19 years old and this is the first time he has been away from us. Hugs,Jan "From: [email protected] To: [email protected] ('[email protected]') I am sorry about the email i will make sure it does not happen again. I can get packages my mother has the address and thank you for writing i do enjoy hearing from my faimly there is no need to worry about me i am doing just fine all things considered. Well cant say much about my day, my nights are pretty dull so not much to talk about. so just have to say thank you and will talk to you later am still in the desert of kuwait. I am pretty sure that is Anderson County, right? Mom has told me about a couple of Barrett get together's in that area, That would have been late 20's if she was a little girl. I will check and see if I have any one on our side in that area. Hello, I recieved a letter in the mail yesterday from a man named Donald Barrett who said he read the newspaper article about the reunion. He asked me if we have Barrett's in Palestine. Does anyone know of any? It is always so nice when I get handwritten letters in the mail. It is a shame that hardly anyone does it anymore with e-mail and the telephone these days. Hugs, Janet
Marilyn, I second Janet's thought, You are a Sweetie!! With love & respect, Gaye

That's what the book said about Regina. I copied from her marker: Virginia B. McWilliams, June 7, 1900 - Sept 25, 1948 She was Virginia Ann Barrett, dau of Dallas Clement Barrett and Sarah Rebecca Gober. Virginia married Harry E. McWilliams. Edward Tully Barrett was Virginia's brother. Regards, Gerry
Jim, I have spoken with Susan Jakes again, and she said they don't have an associate pastor because their church is so small but she will take care of it for us. Gerry, Rosemary and I are working on us seeing the old Reuben Barrett property. Mel Odam lives there in Taylors and we have contacted him and waiting for his reply. He is very familiar with the area and made the map showing the modern roads with the old landowners, (there is a link on the website to it, also in the Reuben Barrett book). So I will keep everyone updated on that. Susan also said that the church is at our disposal and anything we would like to use or do is fine with them. I am waiting to hear from her about using their microphone for Jeff to use or if we need to bring one. I will get everything together and give a full update as soon as more things are firm. Hugs, janet
Thanks Bill, Hugs, janet
Marilyn, Well maybe that is something for the reunion next year we can do. I believe when they dedicate a DAR marker doesn't the chapter go out to the cemetery? You have done a great job on getting it all together for the DAR marker. Thanks so much for taking your time to do this for all of us..I have said it before and I will say it always...Your a Sweetie!! Hugs, Janet
Rosemary, I don't think so. Mel Odam might, since he is the one who researched the land owners and map the map with the modern roads showing the land owners back then. I will write to him and ask him. Hugs, Janet
