    3. Jim, I appreciate your reply but I have to confess, this is all Greek to me. I know I have you results I received from Genebase but I really didn’t understand them either. I don't expect you to teach me but maybe you could steer me in the right direction to learn what this means? It would also be helpful if I knew my results would save me from starting Over and maybe recommend what tests (and where) I should take to refine the results and fit in with everyone else? I do appreciate your help but maybe I'm a lost cause:-) Ken Barratt -----Original Message----- From: barrett-dna-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:barrett-dna-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Jim Barrett Sent: Tuesday, September 15, 2009 3:35 PM To: BARRETT-DNA-L Subject: [BARRETT-DNA] Our Website As I mentioned several weeks ago I have combined ENG-15, ENG-18, ENG-20, ENG-21 and MA-1 as ENG-15.  There are several other kit that appear to share a common ancestor with this group.  Check your data, compare with them.  Ask them for help to connect your line to theirs.  If you find additional kits which should be changed to ENG-2 please let me know along with the changes I need to make to your ancestor list.   ENG-2 and ENG-19 have also been combined to ENG-2.   I hope I didn't make to many mistakes.  Please advise me of any errors you find.   Thanks.  It is always fun to bring lines together.  That's why we are doing this! 3. Libby,   By design everyone who is signed up for any mailing list receives copies of every message sent to the list.  I selected the list as I find it an easy way for me to send messages to the group.  I don't have time to send individual message to each member.   List members,   If you are reading the message on this list you know this is the second message of this type, sent to the list, in the last 24 hours.  Please, if you are sending a personal message to me, one that would be of no interest to ANY of the other members please try to remember to change the "TO" address so that the message comes to me and not to the list.  I'll try to do the same.  DO NOT hesitate to send messages to the list.  If you have a question I'll bet there are others with the same question.   Anyone who feels they are getting to many message has three choices: (1) ask me to change your subscription to digest mode, most days you'll only receive one message, if no messages are sent to the list you won't receive a message (2) unsubscribe following these directions - To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to BARRETT-DNA-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message, or (3) accept the fact that that is how these list work and enjoy the messages from your fellow list members.  Please understand I don't mean to be unfriendly about this, I just don't have any other answers. 3. Jim, We corresponded a few years ago. My name is Ken Barrett, and I am the Y-DNA kit #38742 (KY-3). It seems now there are many more DNA test results back, many of which match my profile exactly (at least to the degree that I was tested). Matches include ENG-20, 21, 18, and 15, as well as IN-1, MA-1 and TN-1. I clicked through all of the profiles/descendent trees, but did not see directly any of my confirmed/proven ancestors. I was wondering if any of those people might have done research that would include other descendant branches? If that were the case, do you know how I might be able to reach them? Do you have their email addresses, or could you perhaps forward this email to them? Thanks in advance for your help. Best regards, Ken Barrett (grandson of Buford Barrett, and currently living in San Diego) -----Original Message----- From: barrett-dna-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:barrett-dna-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Jim Barrett Sent: Wednesday, August 26, 2009 12:44 PM To: barrett-dna@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [BARRETT-DNA] Our Website Bruce, I only selected those which show a form of "Thomas Barrett, b. 1591 or 1602 Norwich, England, d. 1668 Chelmsford, MA". Also ENG-2 is a Hoplogroup E1b1b1a2 while all of the others are R1b1b2's, ENG-2 can not share a common ancestor with the others. He also shows a different Thomas. ENG-19 doesn't show a Thomas as his most distant proven ancestor. If that person feels they should be included them can contact me. Thanks. 3. Jim, If it doesn't throw your system off, is there any chance of going to a slightly different family code format for cousin groups so that they don't 'blend in' quite so much. For instance, instead of ENG-XX we could use ENG-TB or ENG-TB1668 for Thomas Barrett or something similar. Your line might be SC-RB, single member lines would keep their numeric format as current (Until their cousins start swabbin'). Just a small thing.
