Kit 191364, with markers 1 - 37 has been added. While I was busy running all over the country I failed to request family information for this kit. Since the first of November I have driven about 4,400. We have been in TX, LA, MS, AL, GA, SC, NC, SC, GA, AL, MS, TX, OK, MO, IA, NB, IA, MO, AR and TX in that order. The coldest weather we saw was 15 degrees. That is cold for a boy from Texas. We are glad to be back home. When FTDNA has an upgrade sale you can place and order for that item by going to your "myFTDNA" website. Click on "Special Offers" under the "My Account" heading in the left hand column. If there are any they will be listed and you can order them by selecting the one you want. If you don't see "Special Offers" there are no "Special Offers" upgrade that you can order. There are currently two different "Special Offers" that show up. 1) The Y-DNA upgrade for anyone who has a Y-DNA kit that has been tested for less than 67 markers. This kits can be upgraded to any level up to and including 67 markers. 2) If you already have a Y-DNA test you can order mtDNA (HVR1) & Family Finder. If you already have mtDNA you can order Y-DNA12 & Family Finder. If you don't have a kit you can order either mtDNA (HVR1) & Family Finder or Y-DNA12 & Family Finder by using the join link for your family. I don't know how FTDNA knows, but they must. Three weeks ago today I left home for a two week vacation. The first night I received a message that new results had been posted to the Powell-DNA project. Because I was away from my home computer I couldn't update the project website. This morning I left home to spend Thanksgiving with my grand kids and their parents. When I checked my e-mail this afternoon they, FTDNA, had done it again. I had a message telling me new results had been posted for kit 191364, both 1-12 marker and 13-25 marker and I can't add him to our project website. 26-37 have been ordered. This kit is in Group R1b1 on the public website. You can see him on our public website at http://www.familytreedna.com/public/Barrett/default.aspx I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving. Jim, I have been with you on the Family Tree DNA program for some years (kit #N25827) and glad to hear your still with it. I recently joined Ancestry.com but haven't gotten involved with their Y-DNA project and guess I won't. I hope you stay where you are because I have always appreciated your help and comments in the past (we matched at 27) and look forward to many more years of help and assistance. Thanks for the query. George W. Barrett was one of my gggfathers. Born in GA in 1801, he migrated to SC, back to GA, then to AL and lastly to TX. He died in 1889. A blank on the U.S. 1880 census inquires about the birthplace of the subject's father. The blank is filled in with the statement that he was born in England. That's all I know about his parents. I have considerable info on his children and grandchildren - almost all from various censuses (several of whom migrated to Texas after the Civil War) If this seems to fit with your George Barrett, I can send more information. Oh yes, one of Geo. W.'s sons was named George Washington and migrated to California & there are distant relatives there. Thanks for the note. The U.S. 1880 census has a blank titled "Birthplace of father?" My gggfather (George W. Barrett, b. 1801) replied that his dad was born in England. That is as far back as I have been able to track my Barrett Ancestors. My Geo. W., was born in Georgia, migrated to, SC, then back to GA, then to AL and lastly to Texas. Is the George Barrett you are referring to my ggggrandfather George Barrett (b. 13 April 1776 in South Carolina) married to Ruth Rutherford cOctober 1800; immigrated to Indiana?
