    3. To order the Y-DNA111 upgrade go to your 'myFTDNA" website.  Click on "Order Test & Upgrades", click on "GO TO STANDARD ORDERS". click on the "down arrow" at the right hand end of the "Product" box.    If you are eligible to order the Y-DNA111 upgrade it will be listed.  If it isn't listed I believe you will have to upgrade to Y-DNA67 first. 1. [BARRETT-DNA] New Y-DNA111 Test
    2. Jim Barrett
    3. I received this from FTDNA today.   Dear Group Administrator, We are excited to announce the launch of our new Y-DNA111 test! This test includes a panel of 111 Y chromosome Short Tandem Repeat (STR) markers.* With 44 additional markers, Y-DNA111 is the highest resolution Y-DNA test offered by any company in the world. The Y-DNA111 test is recommended for customers who already have close matches at the 67 marker level and are looking to tighten the calculation for the time to Most Recent Common Ancestor (tMRCA).** Due to the specialized nature of this test and in order to evaluate the potential benefit of this type of upgrade, we ask that customers with Y-DNA12, 25, or 37 results upgrade to 67 markers first before considering the 111 marker test. With that in mind, this new test is now available as an upgrade for customers with existing Y-DNA67 results and also as a standalone test for individuals looking to prove a close relationship on the direct paternal line: Y Refine 67 to 111 (Upgrade) $101 Y-DNA111 $339 Jim Barrett - Timpson, TX Please Help Benjaman Kyle http://jpbdna.com/bkyle.htm Barrett Surname DNA Project http://jpbdna.com/barrett-family-dna-project.htm Powell Surname DNA Project http://jpbdna.com/powell-surname-dna-project.htm

    3. Kit 194084 with markers 1 - 37 has been added - Haplogroup R1b1a2   FTDNA has update their Y Haplotree which resulted in the change of some Haplogroup names.  The biggest change is that any Haplogroup name that started with R1b1b now starts with R1b1a.  I did a mass change to these Haplogroup names on out website.  PLEASE - go to your myFTDNA website and check your Haplogroup.  If it does not match what I show on our website please send my a personal message to parino@flash.net and let me know.  Please include your kit number and the correct Haplogroup.  Please do not send these messages to this list. 3. Haplogroup Changes FTDNA has changed their Haplogroup Tree.  By far the most people effected by the change are those who were predicted to be R1b1b2 or tested to be in that group or one of its subclades.  This branch is now R1b1a2.  Please don't ask why they made this change.  It does not match the Halpotree used by ISOGG or 23andMe. They said in part: "We are excited to announce that we have updated our Y Chromosome Phylogenetic Tree to reflect new haplogroup sub-branches! Family Tree DNA, in partnership with the YCC, periodically reviews known SNPs in order to evaluate those that meet the requirements to be added to the haplotree. The SNPs that passed this review are now included in the haplotree and considered for deep clade testing." I haven't looked into it yet but I believe the J branch was also changed.  I have not updated our website to reflect this change but I'll try to do so soon.  Jim Barrett - Timpson, TX Please Help Benjaman Kyle http://jpbdna.com/bkyle.htm Barrett Surname DNA Project http://jpbdna.com/barrett-family-dna-project.htm Powell Surname DNA Project http://jpbdna.com/powell-surname-dna-project.htm

    3. Ernest,   So far you have only ordered Y-DNA test.  Your Y-DNA comes from your father's, father's, father's - - - father so your grgrgrandmother will have no effect on it.  If this grgrgrandmother is your mother's, mother's, mother's, mother's mother it should show up in a mtDNA test.   If this grgrgrandmother is on any line other than your direct maternal line  you would have to have the new Family Finder test for the Native American information to show up and you would be pushing the limit of the test.   You get most of your DNA more or less equally from each parent, so you have 1/2 from each parent, 1/4 from each grandparent, 1/8 from each grgrandparent, 1/16 from each grgrgrandparent.  As you can see you don't have much DNA from your  grgrgrandmother and the Native American connection could be missed.  Jim Barrett - Timpson, TX Please Help Benjaman Kyle http://jpbdna.com/bkyle.htm Barrett Surname DNA Project http://jpbdna.com/barrett-family-dna-project.htm Powell Surname DNA Project http://jpbdna.com/powell-surname-dna-project.htm --- On Thu, 2/24/11, Ernest Barrett <1942dodge@insightbb.com> wrote: From: Ernest Barrett <1942dodge@insightbb.com> Subject: Re: [BARRETT-DNA] Our Website - The Best News To: barrett-dna@rootsweb.com Date: Thursday, February 24, 2011, 9:11 PM Jim, first let me thank you for taking on this job running the site. You wouldn't believe my surprise when a person answered the phone and spoke American. I could understand him and he could understand me. Not only that he help me with my problem. Our website is now located at http://jpbdna.com/barrett-family-dna-project.htm . I hope I have all of the links corrected. If you find any problems please let me know and I correct them as soon as possible. At this time I only know of one problem and it only effects those of you who descend from SC-1 or SC-2. The link at the top left of the home page isn't loading the chart. I'll work on that as I have time but right now I nee to get the Powell project moved. Hey Jim--I tried to get on the new website link and it would not open.  A message with errror (404) opened and said the link was faulty.    Marlon Barrett --- On Wed, 2/23/11, Jim Barrett <parino@flash.net> wrote: From: Jim Barrett <parino@flash.net> Subject: [BARRETT-DNA] Our Website - The Best News To: "BARRETT-DNA-L" <BARRETT-DNA-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Wednesday, February 23, 2011, 8:14 AM Thanks to one of our project members we have a new home for our website.  Several members of both the Barrett and Powell projects came forward with offers to help.  I truly appreciate all of the offers.  One member purchased a domain name and web space for several years.  As long as GoDaddy stays in business we are in good shape.   I did have to call tech support yesterday.  I don't know how many of you have had to call tech support but one of the first things you learn is where many jobs the use to be preformed by Americans have gone. Please don't let them know I did the Barrett site first. 3. Nice! The link works if you get rid of the extra space and the dot after 'htm.' It looks just like the old site so there shouldn't be any confusion. Thanks for doing all of this Jim! You're awesome! So, just click on the link as I put it and it will work. http://jpbdna.com/barrett-family-dna-project.htm Thanks again!
