    1. [BARRACLOUGH-L] Roll Call
    2. Linda Barraclough
    3. Greetings to the List. :) Since I am in the priviledged position of List Owner, I get to see who we have joining the list, as they join. There have been a few Newbies lately, and they are most welcome. When the list started, we introduced ourselves, but after that, once we had posted our families, we became quieter. Newbies join, and perhaps wonder who is already there, and are wary of posting, because they do not see others posting (apart from our Kim and her band of transcribers). That's not to say there haven't been some really interesting posts. There have, and we are all enjoying them. There are now in excess of thirty on the combined list and digest, so I think we should have a Roll Call. :) Hope the oldies will forgive the basic instructions, but they are for any Newbies who may not be totally familiar with News Groups. 1. Open a new e-mail 2. Put in the address of [email protected] 3. Type in a subject of ROLL CALL In the message, start with the furtherest back Barraclough that you can find, from whom descent is claimed. With one line per generation, with as little or as much detail as you can fit in that line, work down the direct line to yourself (or your partner). Sound easy? Mine looks like this: James Barraclough m.1825 Bradford to Hannah Carter Luke Barraclough, b. Wibsey m.1855 Ballarat Vic Australia to Susannah Hignett Major Henry Barraclough, b. Kangaroo Flat m. Martha Walker George Barraclough m. Ailsa Johnston Linda Barraclough (me!) You never know, there might be someone just sitting back there waiting to see a common ancestor come up. Adding a country to your signature makes it just that much more interesting, to realise just how far-flung this Barraclough mob is. :) Regards, Linda Barraclough Briagolong, Victoria, Australia List Owner: BARRACLOUGH-L email: [email protected]
