    1. [BARRACLOUGH-L] INTRODUCTION
    2. R.B. Eddy
    3. Hello from Sunny but Cold Cobourg: My name is Susan Eddy and I am a descendant of Thomas Barraclough 1785-1844 and Ann Parkin 1785-1848 for sure and back farther to Paul Barraclough, died 1721 and Mary Ellis, born 1707 -- just waiting for proof. I have been researching my family for many years in the very old, traditional ways -- going to the Archives, writing snail mail letters -- you remember! A decision to go to the LDS Family Data Center in Toronto with my next door neighbour changed my research life forever -- she introduced me to genealogy on the internet. Needless to say, it did not take long for Kim to find me. Another wonderful event has to do with a second cousin of mine who had done family research for over a ten year period and who had hired a researcher in England. When Dorothy died in 1986 ALL of her personal papers were destroyed, including her genealogy research. Her only legacy was her letters to family, of which I had many, and her letters to June Benn. I wrote to June and asked if she remembered by second cousin. A telephone call one evening not only confirmed her remembrance but we had a delightful chat and she returned ALL of the letters Dorothy had written to her for over ten years which included the name of the researcher -- Pamela Palgrave. I now have information I didn't dream of finding so easily and with this and Kim's help, the connections have been confirmed. I look forward to developing a wonderful relationship with our group -- I do believe that people who are involved with genealogy are very special people and whose who are Barracloughs are even better. Before I bore you completely, I will end for now and save my "Red Letter Day" story until tomorrow. I must apologize for my first posting of the birth registration information for Ontario -- it certainly went askew in the transmission. I will try to do better on the next one. If anyone has any questions about it, just let me know. Best wishes, Susan
