Hi, List, My name is Gloria Wilkinson and I live in Oregon, USA. I have five children and nine grandchildren, and it is because of one of my granddaughters I got started on this. She got interested in Geneology and was upset with me because I knew very little about my ancestors, now I am having a lot of fun wih it. The problem is that everyone I could ask about places and names are now dead. The Barraclough I am researching is Joseph, who was born in Sept. of 1873 to Joseph Barraclough and Elizabeth Sherwood. I had thought he was born in Leeds, but now I think it may have been in Eccleshill. Joseph, my grandfather, married Gertrude Ellison in Leeds 14 April 1897. My father was born in 1900 and when he was two years old, they emmigrated to Canada and lived first in Nelson, British Columbia and then for many years in North Vancouver, B.C. I thought researching the Barraclough name would be a snap, because while growing up I never heard of another family with the name, so it was very much of a shock when I looked through the Yorkshire IGI and discovered so many.
