Linda, I understand, believe it or not, that where a birth/marriage/death took place had more to do with how much the fees were - the expensive events took place at the cathedral (then the parish church). The vicar of Bradford had to give his permission for any birth/marriage/burial to take place in one of the chapelries, and he kept the weddings to himself - hence most weddings take place at the parish church and baptisms/burials are performed locally. The most famous vicar for this practice of keeping the money at the centre was Henry Heap.
