Hi John, You are in luck, as our cousin Derek Barraclough did the original detective work and I followed on from him. William Barraclough married Sarah HOBSON 18th Dec 1796 at St. John the Baptist Church, Halifax. William died 3rd January 1829 aged 66 years and is buried at Coley Chapel. Sarah died 22nd June 1842 aged 66 years and is also buried at Coley Chapel. It is from their second daughter Hannah Barraclough whom you come from. William & Sarah had the following children. John born Hipperholme, bp about 1800 at Coley Chapel Harriet baptised 9/3/1800 at Coley Chapel and buried 24th June 1801, aged 1 year 5 months and buried at Coley Chapel Hannah born Hipperholme baptised 1/8/1802 at Coley Chapel died 6/7/1864 aged 62 years and is buried at Coley Chapel. William born Hipperholme, baptised 10/3/1805 at Coley Chapel Infant Thomas born Hipperholme baptised 12/2/1809 at Coley Chapel Martha born Hipperholme baptised 18/4/1813 at Coley Chapel Samuel? baptised 12/11/1816 at Coley Chapel Now Hannah goes to to marry, Joseph ASQUITH and together they produce a daughter Mary Ann ASQUITH born about 1829/30 in Shelf. I have all the census entries for this family and will send them to you off list, together with M.I's for this family at Coley Chapel. The 64 thousand dollar question here is, is Joseph ASQUITH the father of Charles ? he was born pre-marital. Sorry can't answer that one. If anyone thinks they have an association to this family please let us know. I have Charles BARRACLOUGH born about 1826 in Shelf. His mother was Hannah. On 8 Feb 1852 he married (in Halifax Parish Church) Mary Ann BIRKBECK who was born, also about 1826, in Horton, Bradford Her father was William BIRKBECK who was, I believe, a farmer. > > Charles' eldest daughter, Mary, married John BARTLE of Shelf on 3rd Jan 1880, again in Halifax Parish Church. They were one set of my great grandparents. > > It is very possible that the BARRACLOUGHs had strayed over the border from Bradford to Halifax, so any information leading to Charles, as well as information on the BIRKBECKs will be very much appreciated. I have a little information on Charles and his descendants if anyone is interested. > > John Rushworth >
