Hi Brenda, Welcome to the list. Although there are indeed lots of BARRACLOUGHs, if yours came from Devon rather than Yorkshire, you may find your research simplified. However, I've just had a look at the 1851 Devon Census, which shows no BARRACLOUGHs, so it wasn't the best start! Thank you so much Peter. Actually, I do have conflicting information - I found one source saying they were from Devon and another source saying Yorkshire. From what you have told me, I am inclined to think my first info (Yorkshire) was correct. Also, I have info showing Joseph was a coal miner, and I think all their children were born in the U.S. (oldest son WIlliam born 1877). Hi Brenda. I have no doubt I found this couple yesterday... I remember checking the couple against my Josephs as Catherine is also a family name...have just gone back through all the bits I printed, but to no avail, I didn't add it to my info (as he wasn't mine). I realise that's not real helpful, but at least it might maybe encourage you. The info is out there, and I think there may also be someone else looking for them, as it was a message detailing lineage. In the space of 48 hours I traversed a heap of sites and files, and am not certain where it was. I can only suggest you maybe begin working back through this lists archives, as I know I spent a lot of time in there yesterday, and it may possibly have been there. If not search "This is Lancashire" and you will also find message lists there... Will keep my finger crossed for you, have fun!
