Hi Derek Thanks for the info, I am hoping to get toYorks in the near future. I also need some advice - where are records for Birkenhshaw held - Bradford or Leeds? Cheers Anne
Hi Anne, It might depend upon what you are looking for. Birkenshaw is in the Parish of Birstall, so the Registers are probably held at Wakefield Archives. Also at Wakefield are deeds after about 1705; earlier deeds could be at the YAS in Leeds. Bradford Library might have some recorded Monumental Inscriptions and copies of the Registers on microfilm. Wakefield Archives operates an appointments system and is probably the best place to start. Probably the best place for Birkenshaw census records is Leeds Library, where you can pre-book a microfilm reader. Hi All Thanks to Derek and Jeff for the info. Does anyone know the meaning of "Birken"? I ask as it occurs in a few place names in Germany which appear in the autoroute option menu. Regards Anne
