Hello listers, I am hoping someone will be able to tell me more about Samuel and Amelia Barraclough found in the 1881 Drighlington census, RG11, 4430/61. They were living at 7 Barraclough Buildings and it says Samuel was born in Birstal and was the Registrar of Births and Deaths and that Amelia was born in Kirkhammester. Samuel and his wife's ages are given as 74 and 50 respectively, so no children listed with them, and with the age difference, it seems like Amelia could possibly be a 2nd wife. At one time we thought my ancestor, Richard Huntington, was married to a Barraclough, but it was recently proved otherwise. However, in the 1881 I did find Richard Huntington and his wife Charlotte Elizabeth Robinson living at 6 Barraclough Buildings, right next door to Samuel and Amelia Barraclough. Now I can't help wonder if there is still some kind of Barraclough connection - such as, could Charlotte's mother be a Barraclough??? I looked for marriages between Robinsons and Barraclough and I did come across one in the I.G.I. submitted by a member of the LDS church. The entry was for a Thomas Robinson who married Mary Barraclough on 7 Aug 1809 at Pontefract, Yorkshire, England, but as yet, I can't find their actual marriage record. Can anyone help me figure out this mystery? Does my line really does connect with the Barracloughs or should I just consider them neighbors and get on with my research? This looks like such a great site, so I'd love to be able to join in the fun! I'd be grateful for any help or suggestions. Sherry
