I have been comparing my notes with Derek's recent list of baptisms for Bradford Parish Church. One omission, from Derek's list that I noticed was that of Abraham baptised 26 November 1620. He was recorded as the illegitimate child of Abraham Webster and Sybill Barraclough. As far as I can tell there was no subsequent marriage. Also as far as I am aware the usual practise was for the illegitimate child to take the mother's surname, that being the case he would have become Abraham Barraclough (another one) and not Abraham Webster. I would be interested if anyone had a definitive answer to this one based upon church practise or law of the early 17th century. Jeff Sutcliffe
