Greetings Derek, I seem to be getting that feeing of de ja vue. The first Thomas I found did seem to fit the bill best. Have you tried a bit of lateral thinking? It could be that Thomas was recorded in two places in 1851. If he was living in Bradford but on the census night he was visiting relatives back in Clayton West (or vice versa). Was your Thomas a Joiner or some other trade that a joiner might turn to? Have you checked with the 1861 Census for Clayton West? If he was still in Clayton West in 1861, then my hypothesis is wrong. If he wasn't, then where was he. The reason why I write again is that there were so few Barraclough families in the Denby area. Only two? Both families contained Thomas's of a similar age. Coincidence or cousins perhaps? Was there a third. Obviously it's possible. He may have been on the 1841 Census and I missed him, or he may have been overlooked. The Census was not complete. As for third time lucky? Sorry, but I would have to spread the net too far and I don't have any indexes to the 1841 Census. Good luck.
