Greetings Barraclough Listers, A few of you know that I do my e-mailing through my TV,on a special channel of the cable company Telewest Broadband.I don't have a PC,therefore I'm unable to access all the sites available to we genealogists. I'm hoping that some kind lister, imbued with the spirit of Christmas, can help me by finding a ref.for a double BARRACLOUGH marriage,on either free bmd or the GRO Index. The marriage was between a THOMAS BARRACLOUGH and a NANCY BARRACLOUGH. In 1851 Thomas was wed to his 1st wife Mary. In 1861 he was wed to his 2nd wife Nancy. So the marriage must have been between those 2 census dates, It most probably took place in Bradford or a place close by---eg.Birstall,North Bierley or Tong. Wishing you all the most marvellous Christmas, and a New Year filled with the sound of collapsing brick walls. Cheers-------Derek Barraclough,Bradford.
I've just had an unsuccessful look on FreeBMD, but of course not all the quarters 1851-1861 have yet been transcribed. Hi Derek, Something to think about.... Have you given thought that Mary and Nancy might be the same person? If Mary was Mary Ann, then Nancy might have been her "pet' name. I know when my husband and I first got married we used my "formal" name of Evelyn on all official occasions but now I am more often Lyn than not :) There is no distinct gap in the ages of the children... as one would have expected if Thomas had lost a wife and then found a new one sometime between censuses. Just a thought. :) Lyn ----- Original Message ----- From: "Derek ofShelf" <DerekofShelf1@activemail.co.uk> To: <BARRACLOUGH-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, December 13, 2005 11:03 AM Subject: [BARRACLOUGH] Desperately Seeking a BARRACLOUGH Marriage. > Greetings Barraclough Listers, > A few of you know that I do my e-mailing through my TV,on a special > channel > of the cable company Telewest Broadband.I don't have a PC,therefore I'm > unable to access all the sites available to we genealogists. > I'm hoping that some kind lister, imbued with the spirit of Christmas, can > help me by finding a ref.for a double BARRACLOUGH marriage,on either free > bmd or the GRO Index. > The marriage was between a THOMAS BARRACLOUGH > and a NANCY BARRACLOUGH. > In 1851 Thomas was wed to his 1st wife Mary. > In 1861 he was wed to his 2nd wife Nancy. > So the marriage must have been between those 2 census dates, > It most probably took place in Bradford or a place close > by---eg.Birstall,North Bierley or > Tong. > Wishing you all the most marvellous Christmas, > and a New Year filled with the sound of collapsing brick walls. > Cheers-------Derek Barraclough,Bradford. > > > ==== BARRACLOUGH Mailing List ==== > If replying to a previous message, please make sure you cut out most of > the previous message. Hi Derek No info on Thomas Barracloughs in my files, but one or two Nancies. Any idea how old Nancy was at time of marriage, was she a widow??? 1851 census Bradford, Horton, Nancy, widow aged 59, and daughter Nancy 22 living at 97 Low Green, ED1bb, Sch193,Folio183,Piece No 2310. Found no marriage on the Calverley site for either St Wilfreds, or Farnley PC. Re the name Nancy? I have come across problems in other branches of my family, is it a derivative of Hannah, which also becomes Ann??? Seasons Greetings to all you Barracloughs out there. Anne (not derived from anything)
