    1. [BARRACLOUGH] I'm still here!
    2. Kim Pasquill
    3. Hi Everyone, Just to let you all know I'm still here. I have recently purchased a program call Custodian 3. It's a program for people who collect an enormous amount of info, for one name studies. I thought it might be a better way to go, than what I have previously used for collecting our Barraclough info. Before now I have used Microsoft Access, which I have always found rather easy to use. But thought the sorting facilities in Custodian might be better. But the down side is that I have to now convert all the data (11,000 entries) into excel and then import into Custodian. And they have to be imported separately. Eg. Baptisms, Marriages, Burials for each church. etc. So it's going to take quite a long time to import all the Barraclough entries I have in Access. But on the whole, I do like this new program, and the more I use it the more familiar I am with it's capabilities. So, no I have not dropped of the face of the earth, just very busy working in the background :-) PS, finally got a new battery for my puter clock :-) so dates on emails should not read 1997 any more :-) Cheers Kim

    1. [BARRACLOUGH] UK Photo Site
    2. Mary Berthold
    3. Hello, Everyone, I've been looking for a site on which I could put some "mystery" photos, mostly taken in Cumberland, and I put an inquiry on the Cumberland list. (I didn't want to use "Dead Fred" since that's mostly U.S.) I found a great new site--for the whole UK-- on which you can post photos and a message about them: http://www.county-surnames.co.uk/phpBB/index.php Initially, it may look as though you can't post your photos as attachments. All you need to do is start your message, then scroll down to the bottom of the submission page, and you'll find an attachment button to click. Then you can browse through the photos on your PC and attach one. It's very easy, and they come out looking great. I'm sure it will become a popular site, but right now my six photos make up half the list. Take a look--they're all connected in some way with my Barraclough family (Edwin, b. 1870, m. Edith Watts, Sheffield, 1891, descended from Edwin, b. 1846 (Sheffield), Edwin, b. 1817 (Leeds), Jeremiah, b. 1885 (Leeds), Samuel, m. Hannah Brittain 1772, Leeds. Even though no one on this list has hooked up with my branch yet, perhaps you'll recognize someone. And it's a great place to put your own photos. Mary, Wisconsin, US.A. 2. Linda Barraclough
    3. Hi Everyone, If you are an AOL subscriber, and are reading this on the archives because you have realised you have missed messages - AOL is bouncing you again as it believes Rootsweb is a spammer. Unfortunately a lot of you are using it. There is nothing Rootsweb can do to convince AOL otherwise, and all AOL subscribers eventually bounce off. As each AOL subscriber bounces off I will notify you individually, and authorise your address so you can still post to the list, but you will need to read posts on the archives until life improves. This is an ongoing AOL problem, and it MAY improve after the current virus attacks die down. The archives address (which EVERYONE should have saved in their favourites) is: http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/BARRACLOUGH In the meantime, everyone else, if you are specifically talking to someone who is an AOL subscriber, you may need to talk to them direct, and not just assume they are reading messages on the list. Cheers Linda Lost-admin of this mob - now, who was talking about a Mr Wilkinson. Did I hear someone mention cricket????

    3. Hello Anne, How are you? Jonas could well be a brother to John. At this point I do not have any further in formation than John's father we believe was called Jonas but I do not have any info on siblings etc at this point. Yes I know what you mean, there seem to be a Barraclough from everywhere else except Horton. I have found relatives in New Zealand where Jonas, John and a couple of others ended up, and are still trying to put together bits and pieces. I have actually just yesterday sent info to a gentleman in Bradford re the Barraclough/Smith and my other side Hollings/Mitchell families to see if he can help in any way. What information do you have in regards to the Barraclough family. John Barraclough married a Phoebe Smith 17 Jul 1815. John was baptized 21 Jul 1793 at Little Horton, they had 13 children. Speaking of Kim, do you have her email address, I have been trying to contact her through her old address and a new one, but it is unlike her not to reply! Hope to hear from you soon. 3. Hi Ian!...I just did some research on the 1901 English census and found a Hilda Barraclough...she was 2 years old on March 31, 1901...her parents were Francis Barraclough (age 35) and Jessie ??? (age 29) and they lived at 21 Methley Street in Lambeth, London at that time...do you think this is a match to your Hilda?...it would make her 47 years old when she had Geoffrey...look forward to hearing from you... -----Original Message----- From: Ian Spencer [mailto:iwemroyal@ozemail.com.au] Sent: 12-Apr-03 22:05 To: BARRACLOUGH-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [BARRACLOUGH] Hilda Barraclough Hi List, I am seeking any information about a Hilda Barraclough, who lived in Yorkshire, England. Unfortunately, my information is extremely sparse, and therefore will be extremely grateful with any help that may be given. I have no knowledge of her parents, although they would have probably lived in the North Bierley district of Yorkshire during the early 1900s. Hilda married a Harry Williams in the early 1940s and I believe the had one child, named Geoffrey in 1945. This is the sole amount of my information but these people fit into my family tree somewhere. Sorry to be so vague, but maybe somebody may be able to give me a clue.
