    3. Hi Bonnie, Have you been in touch with a John Rodgers, I'm not sure if John is subscribed to the group or not. He contacted me back in 1997 regarding his ancestors Elizabeth Barraclough who married Samuel Sunderland in Halifax. As you will know from the IGI that Elizabeth Barraclough married Samuel Sunderland 30th Nov 1721 at Halifax PC. Have you had a look at the marriage entry ? You will also know that the IGI does not appear to have a baptism of Elizabeth. But I do have some entries from Halifax PC baptisms 1679 to 1700. I will ask the lady who transcribed these entries if she has done any more work on the baptisms after 1700 and see if she can find a entry for Elizabeth. If anyone has access to the Halifax PC PR for this time frame, could you please do the lookup for Bonnie, if anyone has access and is willing to do it for her could they please let her know via the list or off line. John Rodgers if you are subscribed could you please contact Bonnie, if you don't here from John Bonnie let me know and I will give you his email address off line. I will let you know if my friend has transcribed any more of the Halifax PC baptisms from 1700. -- Best Wishes Kim Pasquill Victoria-AUST Email: [email protected] Barraclough Surname Study: http://users.net2000.com.au/~football/index.html ICQ Number: 30110913 Researching: Worldwide - BARRACLOUGH and variant's grsbls wrote: > Does anyone have the parents of Elizabeth BARRACLOUGH b 26 Sep 1703 > Hipperholme, England who m Samuel Spencer SUNDERLAND, son of Charles > SPENCER, 3rd Earl of SUNDERLAND? > > Elizabeth supposedly emigrated with her husband to Philadelphia, PA, > where son Peter Spencer SUNDERLAND was b ca 1736. > > Bonnie > > ==== BARRACLOUGH Mailing List ==== > -

    3. Hi Mary and List, I do have to tell you that there seem to be all sorts of hiccuphs at Rootsweb at the moment, but I know they are working hard to try and work them out. There have been three Barraclough Digests only in February, so we have been a little quiet. Some lists only have one or two posts every six months, mainly on the surname lists. It seems somehow to partially work for you Betty, as you obviously received this one that you used to respond to. If you would like to get back to me, off-list at [email protected] with the definitely date you last received mail, I will redirect all teh digests to you. On Feb 2, 2000, I signed up and was confirmed on the rootsweb surname lists for , WHITELEY, SUTCLIFFE, COCKCROFT, OSGOOD, AND COSS. 3. Update on my Barracloughs! This morning received an email from a cousin in England which said, in part, Also delved into the Barraclough family and remembered I hadn't told you that Snowden's mother was Martha Jane Snowden - Joseph Barraclough married her at Leeds Parish Church 6 Sept 1837 (I have the marriage certificate and of course it explains where the name Snowden came from - did I tell you my Dad was John Snowden Barraclough Lee? ) They had Snowden in 1842 and Ruth in 1843. She died 11 April 1846 of consumption and he married Charlotte in 1847 and they had Martin and Mary Agn. So Charlotte isn't our ancestor. All interesting stuff eh!! I'm sure you're correct about Ruth Porrit but I have not really tried to confirm this yet. Again it would explain where the Ruths have come from. So, if any of the list have a Joseph Barraclough marrying a Martha Jane SNOWDEN in 1837 or a Charlotte in 1847, I'd love to hear from you <g>. I've turned her on to the mystery of the non-appearance of Snowden Barraclough in the 1881 census. I have found a Fanny (name of his wife) and a daughter Ruth of the correct age, but the father's name is wrong <sigh>. I can't find a Snowden Barraclough and family in the whole of England - I doubt that they'd be out of the country, but I suppose it is possible. Any suggestions, anyone? ... Maurreen

On 3 February 2000, FreeBMD http://FreeBMD.RootsWeb.com/ announced that, as of 1 February 2000, there are has more than one million entries in its database of transcribed vital records of England and Wales that are more than 100 years old. FreeBMD co-Leader Camilla Gemmingen von Massenbach thanked all the volunteers who transcribe the records and RootsWeb for providing FreeBMD with a new server (dual Pentium III/500 with 1 GB RAM and 8x18 GB of RAID hard disk) and access to 45 Mb of bandwidth, commenting: "[t]his should remove the overload problem for FreeBMD and give plenty of room for expansion." 3. HI listers I thought it easier to copy this than send you to a site thats only up for a short time. Many of you have asked about the Pedegree resource file. well here is the info from the Church news on this resource. Cheers Randy in BC filll LDS Church adds international database and foreign language options to genealogy Web site By CHAUNDRA WILSON [email protected] NewsNet Staff Writer Now opening more doors to the people of the world, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is adding a new international database and foreign language options to Personal Ancestral File 4.0. On May 24, 1999, church's passion for family history took an international avenue as the LDS Church launched their Web site FamilySearch. "This is not just an LDS site," said Kim Farah, Media Relations Manager and spokesman for the LDS Church, "it offers a great cross-section of the world." Farah projects that by March the site's seven million visitors will have access to the new searchable database, Pedigree Resource File. The database is constantly growing, expanding at a rate of 1,200 names a month. Development of the database began with the launch of FamilySearch and is a collection of all the information submitted to the site. "This database contains all contributions to FamilySearch and the sources, which haven't been able to be traced conventionally," said Farah. "It opens up wonderful avenues for research." Paul Nauta, Family History Manager of Planning and Communication, said the site receives visitors from more than 100 nations. Nauta also estimates that 40 percent of database information is contributed from nations outside the United States -- from European nations, Australia, and the Philippines. "That means those of us with ancestral ties outside these areas may find increasing success in linking with our roots from their place of origin in the world," said David E. Rencher, Director of Library Services. Pedigree Resource File is contained on five discs, which are available for $15 at Church distribution centers. The free searchable index is accessible at www.familysearch.org Farah said that by February, guests to the site will be able to download PAF 4.0 in Spanish, Portuguese, German and French. Although the PAF program is not designed to provide any genealogical data, it aids in organizing family histories, charts and logs. "It (the new site options) will make family history more interesting and accessible to a wider range of students," said Julie Kaufman, a senior majoring in family history from Pennsylvania. "Family history will be more appealing and approachable if it's in their own language and can be done from home." But I'm wondering if I will ever get time to be able to persue it other than the Barrclough's :-)) But it does look great in that we can have a look and see who our Barraclough ancestors neighbors were. That in it's self sometimes give's us clues to our ancestry. -- Best Wishes Kim Pasquill Victoria-AUST Email: [email protected] Barraclough Surname Study: http://users.net2000.com.au/~football/index.html ICQ Number: 30110913 Researching: Worldwide - BARRACLOUGH and variant's WRY - TAYLOR,BATEMAN,POLLARD Steve Everitt wrote: > Hi Kim, > Finally able to contribute something.
