This turned up at our reunion last August, possibly from Roy Barraclough of Kingston Ontario. It surfaced today in my pile of "things to deal with" and Linda said "Go for it . . ." so here is a rhyme that should produce a grin or two. In my recent posting about the marriage of Hannah Barraclough to George Smith at Bradford Parish Church on 27 July 1823, I said there were no clues as to her parents. I feel guilty for not having mentioned the other details I already have. According to the 1841 and 1851 Census' for North Bierley, Hannah was born in 1807 and had six children. William, George, Thomas, John, Martha and Frederick. According to the 1881 Census she was still living at Slackside, North Bierley, with her son John's family. I would be pleased to hear if anyone does know who her parents were, as I intend following this line back at some time. I was in Bradford the other day looking up some Smith details including a Smith/Barraclough marriage. If anyone is interested, this marriage took place at Bradford Parish Church (now Bradford Cathedral) on 27 July 1823, before civil registration, between George Smith, a miner, and Hannah Barraclough, a spinster, both 'of this parish'. That's it. No clues as to who the parents were, but we don't want it too easy!
