    1. [BARR] Re: Capt. Thomas BARR at Battle of Stony Point, 15-16 Jul 1779
    2. In a message dated 11/23/03 6:13:28 PM, [email protected] writes: << In researching the Battle of Stony Point, NY 15-16 Jul 1779 I came across the name of Captain Thomas BARR, 4th Artillery Regiment (CL) who with Captain James PENDLETON, 1st Artillery Regiment commanded a detachment of 24 artillerymen and two artillery pieces as a part of Corps of Light Infantry under Brigadier General Anthony Wayne. While the guns were not used in the battle, the skill of the artillery detachment soldiers was used to turn the captured guns at the Stony Point fort upon the British on the opposite shore of the North (Hudson) River and upon the British Naval ships in the River driving them out of range of the captured fort. I have not seen this reference before and thought that there might be a descendant or two who would find the information an addition to their collection. Best regards, Hugh >>
