    3. There's a man in Massachusetts who has done the MA Barrs pretty completely. (Unfortunately he hasn't found my Matilda Barr Johnson, born in Massachusetts, moving to VT and then NY, but otherwise he has much information.) Sorry I cannot remember his name but it's back in my e-mail history no doubt. Perhaps he'll contact you through the Barr list if you put a query out. These Massachusetts Barrs all came earlier, from Scotland, I think, but may be related. I got interested in your posting as I have "Irish" ancestors who probably aren't Irish at all. My Kennedy and Edmonds families who came to New England in the mid 1700s are said to have been in Stirling, Scotland and Antrim, Ireland, with the later births being Antrim, Ireland. I think they're part of the people known as "Ulster Scots." My McLaughlin family who came from Killaleagh, Ireland, came later, like yours, perhaps, in the 1790s and settled in what is today the town of Winfield, Herkimer Co., NY. (It was part of Otsego Co. when they first arrived in central NY.) Friends of mine have Irwin ancestors from Antrim, coming in the 1700s. I've become increasingly interested in the Scottish/Irish connections back in the 1700s which seems to play such an important role in many of our own ancestors' lives. Sally Chirlin Chenango Co., NY
