Bill Gibson, A similarity of names makes me wonder whether there might be some connection between our families. Did your gggrandfather Samuel Barr have a brother named George? My gggrandfather, George Barr, was born in Pennsylvania in 1826. His father's name was Samuel Barr, and his grandfather's name was, supposedly, David Barr. George Barr married Susan Smith, supposedly in Ohio, and they were in Kosciusko County, Indiana by the late 1850's. George and Susan Barr had three sons, David, Samuel, and John. John Barr had three children, Earl (my grandfather), Guy, and Pearl. As you can see there are some of the same names in your line as in mine. I have run into a brick wall trying to find out more about George and his ancestors.
