    3. After some research and asking on the PALANCAS list, I have concluded that Wheatland Mills is a little town still around today between Lampeter and Strasburg. It is in West Lampeter Township and has a population of about 50, according to Nelson R. Sulouff <[email protected]>. Jim Stokes <[email protected]> pointed out that it shows on the 1864 Atlas, about a half mile north of Rt 741 on a small stream that runs into the Pequea Creek. It is the location of a mill. According to Arthur C. Lord's "Water-Powered Grist Millls--Lancaster County, Pennsylvania" (info provided by Yvonne Bentz <[email protected]>) the first mill there was constructed in 1720 by Martin Kendig, it was subsequently owned by several members of the Herr family and John Musselman, and in 1899 it was owned by William Pugh. Other names gleaned from "Pennsylvania Annals" and newspaper clippings (found on the Southern Lancaster County Historical Society site) include D. G. Kendig and several millers named McCabe. This is in the same general area where the family I am researching lived. I've been looking at places like Strasburg, Lampeter Square, Willow Street, and Quarryville (including Camargo and Hawksville). The time from for this Jacob Barr of Wheatland mills is 1755-1841. I found children listed as the daughter of Jacob Barr and Anna Kendig in the Herr book, and have determined that this is not the Jacob and fourth wife Anna Herr Kendig but another couple: Jacob Bare, s/o John Bare and Elizabeth Stoneman; Anna Kendig, d/o Adam Kendig. Maria Barr, b. 1791 d/o Jacob Barr [of Wheatland Mills; NOT 1723-1803] and Anna Kendig; m. Abraham Groff (Herr Bk #665 Groff Bk P9), s/o Swamp John Groff and second wife Catharine Herr Eshleman. Barbara Barr b. 2 Mar 1794 d. 4 Mar 1840 m. Rev. Joseph Weaver (Herr Bk #1468). Joseph Weaver is the brother of Samuel Weaver who married Martha Rush and in her mother's will is listed as trustee of Martha's share. Martha is the sister of Catherine Rush who married into the Jacob Barr 1723-1803 line (m. Abraham Barr Jr.). Other children not listed, or at least not located, in the Herr Book: Elizabeth Bare b. 1785 d. 1868 m. John Lehman Alice Bare m. John Funck Anna Bare m. John Witmer John Bare d. age 3 yr 6 mo.
