The Barrs from Lancaster Co. were mostly German and Mennonite. However, there may have been some that were the Scot-Irish. I live in Lanc. Co. but go to Mifflin Co. occasionaly. The book was a Herr genealogy Book. Hans Herr was the first Herr in Lancaster Co. and marriages of the Herrs and Barrs are recorded in there. I do not own the book so I can not look this all up for you. However, I hope this is some help. EJ

This is the first promising lead I've had in ages! Does this book happen to give any idea s to when this Barr family left Lancaster for Mifflin? Or who they were (like names?). What is the name of the book or its author and perhaps I can find a copy somewhere. Where is Milroy? Is it in Lancaster County. Any chance you'll be going by those tombstones again and can get those Barr names? These Mifflin Barrs were Scots-Irish and Presbyterian. Thank you so much for the lead, Sue

My husband's grandmother Cynthia Ellen Barr married 1st, George DUNN in Indiana on 19 Aug 1880 in Putnam County. After his death (or disappearance nothing has been determined re the death) Cynthia married Thomas William Cummings 24 Dec 1893. There were 3 DUNN children and 4 Cummings sons. Her father's name (listed on her marriage license to Thomas) is listed as James E. Barr and mother Phoebe Wiley. If you have any connection with any of the above would love to hear from you.
