In this class are a couple dozen names. I bought this at an antique shop in Villa Park, IL. I enjoy rescuing lovely old pictures like these from antique shops and locating descendants/family members so that I can re-unite the pictures, for only my costs, with people who will treasure them. The picture is 13" long by 5-1/4" high. It is in good condition and is an original (not a copy). The photo was taken by the Renne Photographers in Champaign, Illinois. Of the 29 surnames written on the back are: Kirkpatric, Fisher, Agee, Coolidge(?), Gould, Parring, Peck, Wolf, Slayton, Evans, Barr, Donnell, Goelitz, Warfield, Noth, King, Belnap, Thayer, Gregory, White, Smith Woods and Barnard. There are others, but they are not clear, and I will not attempt a deciphering of the handwriting. These men are all dressed in suits and ties, and each looks to be late teens to early 20's. If you have an Barr ancestor in your family from this time frame who might have graduated from the University of Illinois, please Email me at [email protected] - and I will get back to you shortly.

I am the great granddaughter of John Buchanan Barr who was the son of George Barr of Medonte Township in Simcoe, Ontario. Is there anyone out there who knows of John Buchanan Barr? I understand he was married once before marrying Sarah Johnstone to an American woman.
Does anyone know where I may be able to obtain information about the US Census city "Wards" assigned to areas of a city. For example, the 1860 US Census had a township which no longer exist and is now only a Ward of the city. I'm trying to find a map of the Wards so I can determine what area (Ward) of the city of Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio Montgomery Township used to be located in. If I could identify the Ward the old township is now named I may be able to see who with my name was still living there after it became part of the city. Thanks.

My husband's family is descended from John Brenizer of Cumberland County, Pennsylvania and Adam Brenizer, his son, who was born in 1770 and moved to Morrow County, Ohio. We are trying to connect the various Brenizers of Pennsylvania. As it happened a Brenizer later married a Barr (Merrick Barr).

If she was born in 1832, then she was born in Richland Co. Morrow Co. wasn't created until 1 Jan 1848. The published index to the 1850 federal census will give you a list of the head of household for both counties. You can then go to the microfilm of each of the townships in which Barr families are listed. . The 1850 census is the first one that lists the names, ages, and place of birth of each person in the household. If she was still at home and is listed, then you will have the names of both of her parents (their place of birth), and her siblings. There are several unrelated Barr families in both counties, so I hesitate to say they might be of one of my Barr family lines without additional information. Keep in touch - I have Barr info to share if, by chance, you tie into my Barr line.
