All 3 Barr children moved to Kansas after the Civil War with the maternal Grandparents. Samuel MIA in Civil War; Union soldier. 3. I'm sorry Rebecca and Fred. We don't seem to connect. I just found my Barr's in Greene Co., Iowa. There are a number of children that I don't know anything about yet And the Christopher or Christian Barr from Washington Co. Maryland I know nothing about. He had to have been born in the late 1700's. He would have been my gr. gr. gr. grandfather. Let's don't give up!!! I had my gr. gr. grandfather John and his entire family in my " Iowa Marriages" file and didn't even know it!!! 2. I don't believe there is a connection to my Barr family. My great grandfather, a John Barr came to this country about 1850 with at least one brother. They all settled in Grant County, Wisconsin. If I run across your John C. will certainly get in touch. If you should run across my John, brothers William and Edward please contact me. 3. I have a John C. Barr in my family that was born in Ohio. I am not sure where exactly, however he was born about 1836. He would be my great great grandfather. This John C. Barr was married to Martha J. Barr. We have several come up with several children, but feel there are some more. So far the children are: Nettie Rose Barr (b. 1868), Anna E. (b. 1872), Thomas (b. 1872), Willie Edna (b. 1877), Martha J. (b. 1879). They have been located in the 1880 Ohio Census, Noble Co., Marion Twp. We also feel other children were Grace, Cleo, Mat, and Sam however, we have not been able to find them in the census yet. We also have not been able to locate them any other year or place. Nettie Rose Barr married Robert Graham in the Noble Co. Monroe Co., Ohio area. Nettie Rose died between 1904-1906, after giving birth to twins, one of which died. The other twin was given to her sister, Willie Edna (Barr) Ogg to raise. My Grandfather was the surviving twin, so we know very little about his Mother's family. Do you think there is a connection between your Barr family in Ohio and mine? I also know that there were some that ended up in Iowa. I know of two women, Dorothy and Kathleen that lived in Iowa, but we don't quite have the pieces together as to where they fit in the tree, except they were from the Barr tree. -----Original Message----- From: Ruth Tysor [mailto:rtysor@heartland.net] Sent: Tuesday, April 02, 2002 4:56 PM To: BARR-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [BARR] BARR Thanks to Valerie Ogren, county coordinator for Greene co., I have 9 new Barr families to research. 3. Kathy, I see that you wrote you are a Barr from KS...my gg grandmother's brothers and sister went from Buchanan Co., IA to Miami Co., KS abt. 1874, settling near Osawatomie, KS. They were Henry Barr(b. 1832 OH d. 1902); Hugh Barr (b. 1834 OH d. 1907 Miami Co., KS); and Lucinda Barr (b. abt. 1838 d. 1893 KS) Would your Barr's happen to be from the same area?
