    3. Hello Tom and Mary, No SILASes in my line as far as I know but then with the number of children my BARRs had anything is possible. Lots of my BARR relations are in the USA and Canada but the ones I know of emigrated there in the 1920's. Anyway, I have just input the Family Tree information you sent me on my database. 3. Hello Thomas BARR! I would be glad to communicate but feel there is not much of a connection (yet?) that I can see. My BARR's came over from St Helens, Lancashire 1911. They lived for a short time in Indiana, Kentucky and, finally, in Los Angeles, CA. Before St Helens, they lived in Staffordshire and Warwickshire, England. Any connections there? 3. Hi Nick So far in my research I have not found a Scottish connection. I wish I would because my grandmother always told me she was a mutt: Scotch, Irish and English. I've not found the Irish either but then it may be on her mother's side. My BARR's are: Thomas BARR bapt Solihull, Warw. 1755 his son: John BARR bapt Holy Trinity, Coventry, Warw 1778 John married Elizabeth FAIRFIELD (from Solihull) 1812 They had ten children" John bap 1813 Thomas bap 1814 Juliett bap 1816 Edward Ellice bap 1818 (he was named after the Coventry M.P. at the time) Eliza bap 1821 Julia bap 1823 Henry bap 1823 (my grt grt grandfather. He eventually moved to West Bromwich, Staffordshire and on to St Helen's Lancashire. His son was the American connection and moved his family here in 1911) William bap 1824 Richard 1827 There were two deaths between William and Richard. This John BARR (born in Coventry 1778 had four children from his first wife: James bap 1797 Elizabeth bap 1799 Mary Benbridge bap 1809 John (Jr) bap 1808 Couldn't keep the little bugger in his pants, I guess! From what I could find, 10 out of 14 children grew to adulthood. Let me know if there is a connection. 3. The bio of Francis SCHROEDER <www.pa-roots.com/cgi-bin/data/lancasterbiographies.cgi?review=407> from Pa Annals does say someone married a Miss TOBY. You are right, it is confusing. It looks like it is the father (name not given) of C. J. SWARR. C. J. Swarr married Katherine H. BARR, who was the daughter of Francis SCHROEDER and Katherine BARR, who was the daughter of John BARR (b, 1795) and Barbara KEEPORTS. John Barr was the brother of the Abraham Barr whose parents I am researching. Are you still with me? I, too, have been trying to find info on this couple by researching the lines of siblings and wives. It has produced some results, and probably some I couldn't have gotten any other way, but it certainly entails a lot of wasted effort, as well. I don't know anything more about the Toby family, and this clue seems pretty far afield. John Barr b. 1795 has no sons named John or William, so yours and mine don't appear to be directly related. Good luck. Susan ---original message, shortened, from Ruth Tysor Christopher D. Barr ... was married to Barbara Toby 13 Apr 1809 in Washington Co. MD  (taken from Ancestry.com).  They moved to Greene Co. in Oct. 1853.  (Old Settlers Assoc. Record).                         That's all the information I have on Christopher and Barbara. With your posting today of the marriage of Mr. Schroeder and Katherie Barr .  It's a little confusing but it sounds like the father of C.J. Swarr married a Miss TOBY.Could there possibly be a connection between these TOBY names.  I'm learning that if you can't find the guy you go after the gall. It sometimes works! 3. >From the Oak River Post, Oak River, MB MATRIMONIAL HAWKINS - BARR A pretty wedding of much interest was solemnized on Wednesday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jmaes BARR, 10114 86th Avenue, when their daughter, Margaret Gertrude, became the bride of Eric Allen HAWKINS, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. HAWKINS, Edmonton. The room was transformed into a bower with flowering plants and vines, and the ceremony was performed beneath a floral arch, decorated with hanging baskets. The Rev. A. D. REID, of Knox Church, officiated. To the strains of Mendelesohn's Wedding March, played by Miss Eva BLANDELL, who also played appropriate selections during the signing of the register, the bride entered the room with her father, who gave her in marriage, and her little sister Ruth, who was her only attendant. She was very sweet in a gown of French blue radium lace over blue crepe de chine, trimmed with bands of taffeta silk. The sleeves and skirt were ornamented with clusters of silk flowers in harmonizing hues and her hair was encircled by a wreath of orange blossoms. She carried a bouquet of pink roses. The dainty flower maiden wore a fluffy frock of pink crepe de chine, and carried a basket of white and pink sweet peas. Following the ceremony a buffet supper was served. The dining table decoration was charmingly carried out, with the four-tier bride cake resting in the centre of a billowy white gauze base, arranged with sprays of sweet peas, while the top of the cake held a single rose in a tiny base. Streamers of white tulle were tied at the corners with bows of satin ribbon, and held little bases of sweet peas. Mrs. J. H. MC KINLEY poured the tea and Mrs. G. A. JOHNSON cut the ices, assisted by the Misses Bessie BUCKHAM, Bessie, Mary and Gladys BARR, Katharine HORNE and Dora SCOTT. The brides traveling suit was of French blue homespun worn over a blouse of pink georgette and a hat to match, trimmed with French flowers. The happy couple left on the midnight train for the coast, where the honeymoon will be spent. On their return they will reside in Edmonton. Numerous handsome gifts were bestowed on them. The bridegroom's gift to the bride was a diamond dinner ring. To the bridesmaid he presented a ruby ring, and to Miss BLASDELL, the pianist for the occasion, a novelty writing set. -- Edmonton Journal.
