    1. Could use some help!!!
    2. Kennth McIntyre
    3. Dear Barr, Carroll Surname Listers, Would greatly appreciate hearing from researchers relating to both surname, as I have really hit the brick wall on each. My Barr/ Carroll connection is that my great uncle Charles C. Carroll married a Mary Ann Barr, daughter of Joseph Barr and his wife, Sarah. Joseph, was born in Ireland about 1805, His wife Sarah, born 1810 about in upper New York. Likely Chenango Co. This Barr family relocated from New York to Pa. sometime around 1845, first settling in Cherry Twp. Butler Co., Pa in 1850 then moving on to Rome Twp. Crawford,Co. Pa. where they farmed land, where they remained for many years. My brick wall in respect to the Barrs is I can not find any Barr relatives to Joseph and would welcome any help to this end given. Charles C. Carroll who married Mary Ann Barr Was born in Ontario Canada about 1840. It is believed that his family lived in Upper New York, prior to taking up residence in Ontario, Canada. So, this is my other brick wall trying to fond out anything about his Canadian Family and where they lived in Ontario when Charles was born in 1840. Charles C. Carroll, prior to his marriage to Mary Ann Barr came back into the Sates from Ontario, Canada, about 1861, joined a New York Regiment and took par in our War between the States. After the War, he traveled To Crawford CO. Pa. where he married Mary Ann Barr on November 19, 1865 at. St.Titus R.C. Church, Titusville, Pa Would greatly appreciate hearing from any lister ( Barr or Carroll )regarding the above. Kenneth McIntye, Victorville, Ca.

    1. Re: [BARR] Jacob Barr of Wheatland Mills
    2. Susan Y. Clawson
    3. After some research and asking on the PALANCAS list, I have concluded that Wheatland Mills is a little town still around today between Lampeter and Strasburg. It is in West Lampeter Township and has a population of about 50, according to Nelson R. Sulouff <[email protected]>. Jim Stokes <[email protected]> pointed out that it shows on the 1864 Atlas, about a half mile north of Rt 741 on a small stream that runs into the Pequea Creek. It is the location of a mill. According to Arthur C. Lord's "Water-Powered Grist Millls--Lancaster County, Pennsylvania" (info provided by Yvonne Bentz <[email protected]>) the first mill there was constructed in 1720 by Martin Kendig, it was subsequently owned by several members of the Herr family and John Musselman, and in 1899 it was owned by William Pugh. Other names gleaned from "Pennsylvania Annals" and newspaper clippings (found on the Southern Lancaster County Historical Society site) include D. G. Kendig and several millers named McCabe. This is in the same general area where the family I am researching lived. I've been looking at places like Strasburg, Lampeter Square, Willow Street, and Quarryville (including Camargo and Hawksville). The time from for this Jacob Barr of Wheatland mills is 1755-1841. 3. Here is where we put the brakes on folks! Under the rules, you cannot have a full out discussion concerning DNA testing. The reason for this is simple. Rootsweb requires that you keep the discussion on the subject that the list was drawn up to discuss, and that's BARR. DNA however, has it's own discussion list that is also sponsored by Rootsweb. I presently have 25 lists and I've heard every reason there is to discuss this on each list, but please, do not argue the point. It will serve no purpose. If you wish to discuss the aspects of DNA, please do so on their list. If you absolutely feel the need to reply to this, please do it privately as well. My address is at the bottom of each post. Thank you for understanding. Fred HI all, sorry for responding in Digest Mode, I forgot that It puts in all the gobbledygook. I usually do not do that. For Jeff & Michael: Jeff for my line not yet.
