I don't think that my ancestry is in a direct line with yours as all that I know about mine is that they were in the New York and Ohio area before the dates that you mentioned. Good luck on your search. Elmer Baron
Hello, Isidore Barron/Baron b.?? Canada HIs daughter, Emily Baron was born Dec. 23, 1877 in Canada There were more children...I know Emily had sisters...just don't know the names yet. It is believed that they relocated to New Hampshire and/or Maine...do not know which one first. Emily married to Frederick LeMaire. Emily and Frederick lived in Amesbury and Newburyport MA for many years. I have not been able to find their marriage as yet...it is possible that Emily's family came to MA also. As yet have not been able to find the wife of Isidore. Hope someone has some info. on this family. I think the origen is German. Not sure of course.
In answer to your inquiry. My grandfather Baron spoke only German until he went to school so I know that they were of German descent but do not know where they immigrated from. I am still trying to find that out. Good luck with your quest. Elmer Baron
Dear Pamela, I am sorry I have been a little slow in getting back to you re the Baron family. Could you possibly send me the emails you received concerning your Polish speaking Barons. My Baron family were considered German's from Russia. I have traced my family from Odessa back to Germany and into the Alsace area of France. I do believe that some Baron's were in the area that is now Poland before moving on to Odessa City. I wish I could give you all the details of this migration but it is hard for me to totally grasp because of changing boundaries. I do know that I grew up eating food that I thought was "German" but it ended up being more Polish and Russian. I will be happy to forward you a genealogy report on my Baron's. I also have some family information for the Baron's in the Alsace area of France. Hi List, My mother's maiden name was Baron. Her family spoke Polish and came from the part of Poland that was under German control,I was told in Poznan. My grandfather was born in 1866 and emigrated to the US in 1891, that gives the time frame. On my grandfather's Declaration of Intent he stated that he was born in Germany, but then Poland did not politically exist at that time. My question is: Is Baron a Polish name? I know it is a German name but my grandparents spoke Polish in their home (they could both speak German) and all their children also spoke Polish. (The parents did not teach the children German.) I have never run across a Baron who was Polish outside our family. My mother and all her siblings said they were Polish. This is very confusing to me. My grandmother's maiden name was Szymankiewicz so I know that she was Polish. Could anyone out there help? God bless, Pam _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp

Hi Folks, I have been getting thousands of bounced emails from Rootsweb. I mentioned it to McAffee and they said that perhaps someone on the list has a virus. The Sir Cam virus is quite active right now. If you are having problems I suggest that you scan your computer for a virus. Sincerely, Carol Clapshaw

Am researching African American Holtzclaw descendants whose ancestors ever lived in Coosa and Elmore County. 1866 Coosa County Census list several Holtzclaws (Ben, Elviry, et al). Any info or lead would be greatly appreciated. Could anyone do a Census lookup in either of these counties after 1866? Specifically, I am looking for Tom or Ella Holtzclaw. Who were their parents? Some of their children were: Freeman, Charley, Bea, Callie, Carrie, Nora, Jack and Dorsey. Anxiously awaiting a response. May respond directly to MRuthHunt@aol.com. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted on: BARON Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/surnames/b/a/BARON/queries/10017 Surname: Harper, Mitchell, Williamson, Stocker, Milford, Cowan ------------------------- I am currently researching my family tree (Harper) and saw your request for information about the Baron family name. My grandfather, William Leonard Harper, married Veronica Baron (my grandmother). She was born 1 January 1912 and I have information about her mother and father (father was Alexander Baron, mother was Beatrice Light), her 4 sisters and 1 brother, and some of their children and grandchildren. I also have information about her mother's side of the family (the Light family), but not too much more of the Barons. Sadly at the moment there are no dates though. With some further investigation, I'm sure more information could be found out. If you would like the information that I currently have, let me know and I'll gather it all together. There is quite a lot of it. Email me back if you think it will be of use to you. Regards, Lee Harper, leepharper@aol.com
