Also, my grandmother also thinks that the name was originally Baronsky or Baronski (don't know the spelling). Does anything know about a name change, also? My grandmother was Anna Cohen, her mother's maiden name was Barsky. My father was Zachary Blier, his brother was Samuel Blier. Was Samuel your father or grandfather? I was born in Chicago 2-5-46, we lived in Highland Park 1950-64. Zachary died in 1954. I knew Anna Blier, she visited us many times before her death in 1955 in Los Angeles. My mother, Glenna, never contacted the Blier relatives after that. I was told Zachary and Samuel became estranged after a failed business. Please respond to the message, I am anxious to hear from you. Thank you, Janet

I do not know her first name, but her maiden name is Gilbert or Guilbert. Does anyone have any info on an this Ellard Carrigan on the 1930 census listed his wife as Avils A Carrigan. I wonder if this could be the Miss Gilbert I am looking for, for the Ms. Gilbert who married this Edlaw Carrigan had a brother named John Phileas Gilbert. His firstborn daughter was named Avila........could just be a coincidence, but worth a shot! Other names in the household were : Ellard Carrigan (Head) b @ 1897 Avils A Carrigan (Wife) b @ 1893 Regina Carrigan (Daughter) b @ 1919 Irene Carrigan (Daughter) b @ 1925 Arthur Carrigan (Son) b @ 1926 Home in 1930 : Laconia, Belknap, NH I am interested in finding any of these individuals or someone who knows of them, for my mother recalls hearing that our Gilberts (Guilberts?) were living in Laconia, NH at one time and thinks that John Phileas Gilbert was born there as well as his sister Lillian, and the third sister we do not know her name, other than she was listed in her father's obituary as Mrs. Edlaw Carrigan of New Hampshire. Anyone who has any info on this family or is related, please post to the message board or contact me via ancestry.com records on file. If you email me direct, please put either Gilbert or Carrigan in the Subject field otherwise it will be deleted by spam/firewall filters. Thanks@! Found more info today, and believe this is the correct Mrs. Carrigan. I found a copy of an online obituary for Regina L. Gordon, who is the Regina Carrigan listed as the daughter of Ellard and Avils Carrigan on the 1930 census. The obituary reads that Mrs. Gordon was born Dec 3 1918 in Lowell, MA, the daughter of Adelard and Avila (Guilbert) Carrigan. This ties into my earlier "theory" that the name was Avila and not Avils. Obituary goes on to list other siblings and grandchildren, who I will now start trying to locate or get in contact with. Hopefully one of them will remember something about their grandmother or have some old family info that may help. It would be nice to find and get in contact with other family members who may be researching their genealogical roots as well and we could help each other out with the info. Here are the names and locations listed. Obituary is dated May 6, 2002, so it's not too old! Mrs. Regina L. Gordon, age 83, formerly of Rte 106, Belmont, died on Monday May 6, 2002 at the Belknap County Nursing home where she had been a resident for the last twenty years. She was the widow of Clifford R. Gordon who died in 1982. Survivors include a son, Donald Gordon of Loudon, NH; two granddaughters, Kathy Archikowski of Oakham, MA and Karne Schoonmaker of Loudon, NH; four great grandchildren; three sisters, Irene Patten of Laconia, twin sisters, Jeannette Baron of Laconia and Jane Noyes of Belmont; and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a brother, Arthur Carrigan. If anyone knows any of these individuals, please let them know I would like to be in contact with them regarding the family genealogy. Post replies to the message board please, or if via email to address on file with ancestry, please put Carrigan or Gilbert in the Subject matter line. THanks! Posting this on the other surname boards as well as Belknap, NH Locality Board. Gordon, Carrigan, Patten, Guilbert, Gilbert, Baron, Noyes, Schoonmaker
