    1. Dead Sea Scrolls in Nauvoo, Hancock Co. IL Now until August 30

    3. Hello: I have something to share. This afternoon I saw something that probably will have been the only opportunity in my life time to see. Friends invited me to go with them to Nauvoo, just about ten miles north of me in Hancock, Co, IL, to see the exhibit of the Dead Sea Scrolls sponsored by the LDS and the Brigham Young University. We think we have a hard time deciphering and interpreting older records, some of you may have, and are able to translate foreign records, but this is would be a challenge that I would never be able to take on. I was amazed beyond words to have been able to actually have seen a small fragment of a silver scroll found in one of the caves along the Dead Sea. Other artifacts in the exhibit were an oil light from one of the caves and coins found in the ancient area of Quaram. I am not a Mormon, but found the exhibit enlighting and would recommend it to any one of any faith to see. I enjoy history, as probably all genealogists and Bible history and as I said earlier it was awesome. I believe the hours are Monday through Saturday, now until August 30, 9 to 5 and Sunday 1 to 6. Hours and other information could probably be accessed at their website at www.lds.org. So if you have or have had any relatives in HancockCo., or near-by surrounding counties such as Adams, Henderson, Fulton, McDonough, Knox, in IL and need somewhere to go on vacation, this would be a great side trip.
