    1. ELEVEN BROTHERS AND A SISTER, FUR TRAPPERS FROM GERMANY, GEORGE? BARNETT FATHER TO JOSEPH,CIVIL WAR INFO,
    2. Paula Buckert
    3. GG-grandfather, Joseph Barnett served in the Civil War with Company F4 of KY infantry, 4th Regiment and 32 KY Volunteers Infantry. Became a corporal later. Served under JOSEPH TOMPKINS. Pension records show he was also in les. 932 KY Volunteers. He was captured and became a prisoner to the south at the skirmish at Newman, GA on 30Jul1864, four months after volunteering. Records show he was held at Goldsboro, NC in April 1865. He was also captured on30Jul1864 in Atlanta, GA. If I remember correctly, according to books read, there were men taken prisoners on this date, as they were destroying the rail going into Atlanta. He was treated at the Confederate Hospital at Wellington, NC 04Apr1865 to 25May1865, and Columbus Federal during June 1865. Records show that he contracted typhoid pneumonia, causing an "affection of the heart and general debility" brought on the by the conditions of the Confederate prisons. He was discharged at Louisville, KY on 25Sep1865. He was captured twice, but was released promising not to return, but he did and was once again taken prisoner. I am uncertain of his parents and prior ancestors. One family member thinks his family, father or before, was brought from England to a penal colony in the U.S. Have not found any documentation to confirm this. My maternal grandfather, Jacob Edmond BARNETT was the son of WM. ALFRED BARNETT and LIZZIE "Elizabeth" MAY ELLEN DOWNS of Canton, MO, Lewis County. Wm. Alfred's father, JOSEPH BARNETT, was from Greensburg, KY. The 1850 census confirms. He was born 16Jul1830 and died 04Apr 1906.Buried in Canton, MO. He married ELIZABETH ANDERSON 13Mar1868. She is also buried in Canton, MO at Forest Grove Cemetery. He fought for the North in the Civil War. I have his records. Evidently he was captured twice but released and drew disability (pension) from the war. I believe. Joseph's other children, according to my grandmother, were CATHERINE BARNETT/DILLION, b.17Jul1869 d.16May1912, BENJAMIN FRANKLIN BARNETT b,13Dec1871 married FLORA ALICE WELLS b.(Jul1873), WM.
