    2. Vicki: My Barnetts come from VA, so wonder if we might have a connection there, so here are mine: James Barnett 1730 to 1791 - places unknown Col. James Barnett, Jr. - 1742 to 1808 - Augusta County, VA married to Ann Rachel Clements (and yes, I know that Sr. was born in 1730 and JR in 1742, which is unlikely, so someone made a mistake along the line there.) Jr. and Ann had: Reson/Reizen/Reason Barnett born in 1775 - 1821 and he married Elizabeth Fast and they had: Philip Barnett in 1808 - 1863 and he married Mary Polly Creager/Criger and they had: Philip was born in Wythe County, VA and is buried in Tazewell, VA. Philip and Mary had 10 children, the 6th one being Nannie Barnett, my husband's great grandmother. 2. Surtees Family
    3. Okay, I have to add my two cents worth now. I just can't stand it anymore!! FIRST: Please remember -- a junior and a senior DOES NOT have to be a father and son. In fact it quite often WAS NOT SUCH. A junior could be a grandson of the senior, it could be a nephew of the senior or in some rare incidents it could be an uncle of the senior. It was a child named for someone else, usually a relative of an older generation. Therefore the birth dates are insignificant to the relationship. Also, if you inherit research from another family member, they may have a "junior" down as a son when in actuality he was a nephew or grandson. Thank You. SECOND: For those of you researching the family of John and Katherine FARRER BARNETT -- I have a different wife for the younger John BARNETT -- unfortunately my memory just went blank and my record is not at hand so I'll have to address her name later. I believe this is so based on information contained in the Douglas Register for St James Northam Parish in which are also recorded births for several of Joseph & Lucy WADE BARNETT and William & his wife BARNETT. THIRD: in some of these records, the transcriber or the original author wrote BARNETT as BARNARD i.e. -- again the Douglas Register where John & his wife are BARNETT for a son's birth and BARNARD for a daughter's. In the same record Lucy is WADE and RED -- such are some of the joys of family history research. Again, Thank You, Diane in Indiana
