    1. Re: [BARNETT] what has happened
    2. Joe Berry W. Barnett was born somewhere in S.C.abt. 1813.He married Martha unknown in 1833 she was born 1816 in S.C.,by 1834 he was in Georgia my gggrandfather Matthew Abraham "Abe" was born there in 1834. 1840 census shows Berrry W. Barnett in Cherokee co. GA. 1850 shows him in Cherokee co. GA. with 9 children at home oldest Matthew Abraham.1860 shows him in Polk co. GA with 8 children at home. 1880 shows him in Etowah co. Ala. I don't know where or when he died but Matthew Abraham came to Texas in 1888, he had always lived close to his father so I think probably Berry W. was dead. i have a distant cousin researching this line also, he lives in Georgia he seems to think John Barnett of S.C could possibly be Berry W.'s father. So if you have any info I would more than welcome it. I have more info about his son Matthew Abraham I know Berry W. had a son named William P. born 1838 in GA. In fact all his children were born in GA. I mention William because Matthew A & William married sisters Matthew married mary Ann Veal & William marrried Katherine Veal daughters of Alexander Veal of GA. Caarolyn

    3. Carolyn, My John BARNETT b. 1 Sept. 1772, was in Buncombe Co. NC by 1800 we think. He remained there until late in life when he returned to GA/SC. There is no Berry that I have found in our line. It appears that David BARNETT of Hamburg SC (now North Augusta SC) and Augusta GA was the father of our John BARNETT. What are some of the other family names that are related to the BARNETTs? I have just come across a Martha (PYRON) b. 26 Apr. 1779 that I strongly feel is John BARNETT'S wife. Can I contact the distant cousin researching this line that lives in Georgia, if what is his contact information?
