To the person who posted the URL of the shipping c1800 a few days ago, my eternal thanks. I navigated my way around the website and found the reference to the "Kate" arriving in Australia. Although I already had details of my ancestor arriving on 18th November, 1854, I checked the two online references. My ancestor was not listed, so I emailed the person representing the listings and today received information additional to that which I already knew. The big find was that I now have information from the ship's passenger listing which recorded that my ancestor's husband was deceased. I had suspected as much as he appeared on the 1851 census, but didn't arrive in Australia. Again, thank you. The slimmest leads are often the most fruitful.
