Hello Cousins; and others. Well, I now have imfo on Ancestry of our Barnett's from Eng, to Scotland to Ireland, to USA. It is about 7 full pages and 2 half pages long. I am sending this to you as I have time to type it. If you have computor (small palm kind etc) let me know so I will have to go to a copy place or send your copy half pages. Please print these out and place in your notebook for family down generations. Research by me from several Historical and Gen Libraries and other sources of records. Sources at end. Early Barnett History Barnet , England Barnett , Eng is a suburb of London, Eng. The first mention of Barnet, Eng was in 1066. and later for the TERRIBLE "BATTLE of BARNET" in 1471. (NOTE) I am trying to locate imfo on this). The name BARNETT is derived from the Anglo-Saxon Bearnet, a meaning of burning. The name BARNETT appears to be one of the earliest found in the Scottish annals. The first possessions of the family were in FIFESHIRE. They had in their possession five charters, one without date, confirmed by KING WILLIAM, Anno 1163. Hamilton od Whishaw, aqired from the BARNETT'S the adjoining lands in NEDDSHIRE In 1661, KING CHARLES II, ejected from thier livings thirteen Presbyterian Ministers included, Robert Craighead, Thomas Drumond, (NOTE > This is ancestor of the Drumond that in USA is connected to our Smithson line of our Grt granmother Millie Maxine Rooks Brannan's mother Mahala Smithson b 1814 in Clinton Co Ohio). Adam White William Jack, the ancestor of Patrick and Charlei Jack who settled in Pennsylvania. It is thought that some of the Barnett's wwere amoung those ejecvted from Scotland as they were with Patrick Jack when they left Northern Ireland. The Barnett's were stout Presbyterians in Scotland. Because of Religious persecution, they left Scotland and settled in Ireland. Also because of same religious persecution they left ireland for America. BARNETT'S from SCOTLAND who SETTLED in LONDONDERRY, NORTHERN IRELAND. (NOTE , NOW DON"T anyone go flying off to Ireland yet as much more needs to be done to make any trip a fruitful one. and not just a sight seeing one. Besides, our Brannon side of John Brannan ( called (Irish John) as he had Red hair), b 1745 was from Queens Stradbally Ire.) William Barnett, a weaver of wool products, emigrated from Scotland and settled in Londonderry, Northern Ireland. prior to 1634. (I may have a name for wife??) (NOTE) I have a book with this line in it. I bought inn Portland Forum in abt 1985 not knowing that ii is connected to our Barnett Gen. I am finding conflicting imfo in the book from the doc I have from 1800's in N C. And No WONDER. as the volunteers in Forun=m put together this book in Portland and none knew the collector's line and about the imfo he collected.
